5 Months Progress Report

Hey everyone!

It has been quite awhile since I last blogged in WA. I've been really busy with full-time work and part-time studies. I've been trying to post 1 article/review per week on my WA site but I still have slip ups here and there with it.

On December 10, I had 3 blog posts and 2 pages and 4 months later, I've grew my site to 16 blog posts and 8 pages. Well, not much but it was the best I could cope with. So here's some stats for the hard evidence people (like me) who love to read progress reports with numbers.

This is my organic traffic from Google. I've seen my traffic grow from about 5 clicks (in Nov 14) to 120 clicks per month and I've passed the 200 impressions mark daily. Considering I've only 16 posts, I think it's a good effort. :)

And yes I do have keywords that are ranking on the 1st page.

Now what about referrals?

I'm sure you are dying to know that. Yes, I do have referrals. I won't reveal how many I have but I can tell you that I'll be receiving my first payment from WA next month. I believe if you provide good value to people, referrals will naturally come. Just look at Vitaliy and Nate, they are living proofs of that.

What I've learnt so far?

Affiliate Marketing must be treated as a long-term business and time is needed to build up your business (same for a brick and mortar one). Being in WA for more than a year, I have seen people come and go. Some don't even last for a month because they want instant money and instant results (which scams promote).

However, those who succeed are those who continue working on their site even through discouragement, problems and limitations e.g. lack of traffic, writer's block, lack of time, technical knowhow and etc. I think a year is a good timeframe to test things out. Anything shorter than that is giving up too quickly.

If you have worked on your site and you still don't see results, don't give up. Your big break might just be round the corner.

Cheers, Jane

Another inspiring post. Onwards and upwards. Congratulations to you

Thank you! Onwards and upwards to you too!

Thank you for sharing this. I have been a member for a month and working on my first website. This is encouraging. I like WA so much!

You're welcome! Glad it encourages you to keep going. There's no other community like WA.

So awesome to see graphs like this, you are like a climbing stock with no limit to your potential. I can't wait to see your ongoing success and growth moving forward and a big congrats on your first upcoming payday!

Thanks Kyle! I like what you've said, climbing stock! Finally I understand what you all meant by "keep writing, it will come". :)

I'm soooo looking forward to 1 May!! Thanks for all your guidance, I really really appreciate it. It can't be done without you, Carson and this awesome community.

Cheers

That is a wonderful story Jane and very refreshing to hear. I am like you and love to see the numbers "show me the numbers" haha.

Thanks for sharing this, I am sure it will help us all to see the lights at the end of each of our own tunnels.

Haha, "show me the numbers". Thanks and you're welcome. Although each journey is different, numbers do help in giving a rough estimation. May you see the light soon Damon! :)

Congratulations. I have been in WA for about 3 weeks now and it's encouraging to hear other's successes and what it takes to get there. Stories like yours make it real for those of us who aren't there yet. Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome and welcome to WA! I'm glad it encourages you. That's the purpose of my blog post. I'm not there yet too! But I hope it would help members who are in self doubting, does it work stage.

Cheers

Thanks for your post Jane and congratulations on your success. I am struggling just like you were... 1 post a week is about all I can manage at the moment. I am 1 and a bit months in and I have 4 pages and 3 post, there are plenty ideas there it's just a matter of getting them down.

This was very timely to read for me as sometimes I feel I won't succeed with that kind of post frequency.

Keep up the good work!

- John

You're welcome John and thanks! I know how that feels like. Everyone tells me to post 2 - 3 times a week but it is just not humanly possible for me. In fact, for a month or 2, I posted 2x or 3x only. I was really anxious when I almost hit the 3rd month with low traffic and no referrals. Regardless of how I felt, I continued and I'm glad I did.

Just keep grinding at it and you will see success! :)

Great advice. Jane. I've only been on WA for 5 days. I feel like there is so much to learn... I think you're right about giving it at least a year. Nothing worth having comes easy. It took the Chinese over 200 years to build the great wall of China, I think I can stick this out for at least a year. lol. Best of luck to you.

Hey Marcus, welcome to WA. There is a lot to learn from WA but as long as you follow the lessons and take action, you will get there. :)

I'm totally with you. Nothing worth having comes easy. If we look at things from a brick and mortar business perspective, it will be pure stupidity and reckless to give up any sooner than a year. This same principle should be applied to our Internet Businesses too. :)

All the best Marcus! If you need help, I'm just a PM away.

Great advice Jane. So many get discouraged because we have grown up in a time where instant gratification is really something we all want =). I am sure my sugar addiction falls right into this actually.... But your site traffic is just proof that even part time, with some TLC your site will slowly start to get traffic and results.

Just yesterday I saw someone asking whether or not you could be successful part time and the answer is yes! to anyone out there that was having doubts. Now missy you need to get your assignments done faster so you can write more posts =) i want to see the chart that shows your crazy amounts of traffic.

Not to mention that once you get your first payment from WA they tend to keep coming every month...so that by far is def a bonus!

Congrats of course on the referrals. As we have talked about in chat I just started my bootcamp site last week and am really aiming for my first referral in six months (not even paid) I will be happy just to see that I can get one here. I have always been really focused on my other niches so I am hoping I can make the bootcamp work.

Hopefully your post will help to serve as encouragement to other part timers =) who are trying to juggle a website with their super busy real lives as well.

Jean

You're welcome. I hope you enjoyed this post. :)

Yes we do live in a microwave world where everything is fast and instant gratification is the norm. Guess you are right, my site is proof that it works for part-time Internet Marketers. It's not easy and I did question myself after 2 months if this works. And BOOM, my first referral came in just a day or 2 before my 3rd month.

Personally I believe that you can get your first referral within 3 months, considering that you are posting wayyyy more than I am. The most important thing is to provide good value in your WA site. You can do it! *waves pom pom"

I hope I'll get those lovely emails every month from WA from next month onwards. :)

And I so need to get my assignment done. Gotta whoop myself into assignment mode.

Talk to ya soon
Jane

Congrats considering all the things you have going outside of your site you are making great progress. The work is paying off, keep it up.

Thank you! It is indeed paying off. Slow and steady but it's growing. :)
How is your site coming along?

It's coming along well I think. Been had a lot of time on my hands lately so I have been adding frequent content. Its only been two months but I think I'm doing well. Check it out and let me know what you think.

That's great! I'll drop you a PM with my comments. :)
