Does religion help a person or imprison his abilities.
Why religion.
Many people follow some religious rituals or practices, just because they think they need some body or some thing to control their deeds and behaviors. some others, think that without religion, the world will have no moralities to control what people conduct. Yet, some other people think that religion is a way to give the power and strength for the human soul to achieve and create!
Some religions are created to imprison the souls and bodies of people and to give some other people the right to imprison people's potentials and even give some classes the right to claim superiority that is based on ethnicity, gender or just embracing these religious practices.
The Idea of God, is one of the basic ideas of religion. Some religions call for worshiping people, things or animals and birds. There are three religions that call for the oneness of God. Yet, some of the religions support people to kill others or persecute them just to force them to embrace a certain belief.Of these, are the peculiar practices and beliefs that appeared recent in the middle east.
Prayer, is one of the main Ideas of practicing religions. some religions call for doing some rituals regardless to the effects of these on people or their emotions and how they feel, while some other religions call for having a relation between the one who prays and his/her God.
Religion is and has been always a topic that raises a lot of excitment among people whether they believe in it or they simply refuse it.

Steve, It is really a controversial topic, yet I do not think it is a good idea to avoid any topic as long as we discuss freely and neutrally. I guess every topic is liable to be discussed and criticized. It is not good that we limit ourselves to certain topics as long as we discuss it without hatred or extremism. And do not forget that the world is now facing real threats that come from these stuff.
Open discussion is good in the right forums. This is not really the place for it. I'm sure you have read religious debates on other sites and they get pretty ugly.

Limiting beliefs about human potential is the only thing that limits you.
Religion is a choice when someone doesn't understand the oneness that is. Im my opinion. I could say fact. But others might disagree. But the truth is what is left at the end of the day. So if we are in oneness with an infinite power than that is our religion: Infinite Possibilities. We are spiritual beings living in physical bodies. We have infinite potential. We are creators. We use our mind to imagine what we want. We move our mind to a higher frequency or vibration and we dial in to how to get that thing that we have imagined. Just like the Wright Brothers who imagined flying and everyone else said they should be locked up! Now we fly at speeds beyond the speed of sound. And the world is a smaller place now.
We are Mind. Man is Mind. Religion is just a set of beliefs you govern your self by. If you free your mind of limiting Beliefs then you can dial in to the infinite potential that we are. Because we are all equal. We are just different by our Results. Results is the name of the game. Black White Yellow Brown Red...doesn't matter. We are all the same. All infinite and immortal beings of infinite potential. The only thing that keeps us low is our limiting beliefs. Change your beliefs change your life. You can have and do anything you want. The beliefs are kept in the subconscious mind. Relax deeply relax, see what you want in an image, see it 3 times a day for 15 minutes. Be excited about it. And you will start to vibrate on that frequency and you will attract by law of attraction the things and ideas and people and places you need to make your vision happen.

Lance, I really agree with you about freeing our minds of limits of beliefs and religions. Nothing should limit the creativity of man. Yet, we still have all the metaphysical stuff that we have to think about and discover.
