Where to Begin?

I am writing this blog post more for me, what I mean is I feel I am a good teacher, listener, and talker, but I teach better than I do. So please feel free to comment and give me your thoughts.

I have only been with WA for a short while, I joined the community so I could help others as well as get help where needed. This forum is filled with awesome people and I believe to founders to be genuine people who care about others. My goal is to help others as well, and while doing this I hope to achieve knowledge in areas where I lack, and skills that I find hard to master myself.

When you ask yourself, where do I begin, you must take an inventory of where you have been and where you want to go. The one big thing I have learned from talking with and reading those who have already been successful in this or any business, is that you have to have a direction, a GPS so to speak, that will tell you where you are going and how you are going to get there. So in this post I want to look at these two things.

1. Where have you been? What type of work have you done in the past? Has it been fulfilling or was it just a paycheck, because if it was just a paycheck you probably never really became as successful as you could have. If it was fulfilling, you probably did pretty well, and in that case take what you have learned and bank it, it will grow interest and be beneficial for you in the future.

2. Where do you begin? That is easy, at the beginning, just kidding, but still kind of true. If you are embarking on an online career, and since you are here I assume you are, you need to start at the beginning. Start by looking for, and you really have found it here, like people, people who want to do, and or are doing, what you want to do. Seek out people who will be willing to help you, I say help not do it for, listen to them, ask questions, and then put their experience to work for you, this is allowing you to draw on their bank of knowledge and the interest they have earned.

One of the best place for much of this knowledge is right here in the getting started lessons and then the Affiliate Bootcamp. If you follow along closely and take each step seriously, and ask questions whenever you feel stuck, do not stay stuck, do not let yourself get frustrated.

By the time you have went through the training you are well on your way, so what I am going to say next may be a recap but please humor me. Start from a place in your heart of serving others, look for things that will make other peoples lives better, and this will improve your life. Start by being excited about your business and committed to your business no matter what. Find ways to keep it exciting and commit a designated amount of time to it each day.

Now the hard part, do not fall for every scheme out there, move away from anything else that can distract you including social media other than how it can help you with your business and during times, away from your designated working hours. Turn off your cell phone, except for business, remember this is about your future.

Plan you work and work your plan. I like to think about it like I work for myself and I give myself daily tasks to follow, I work better trying to create myself a disciplined work environment. Stay on task, at least as much as possible, and try to find a way to measure your daily successes. That can be small successes like completing a blog post, or helping someone else solve a problem, or even launching a new product. I even get excited when I get new comments and follows.
