On the training videos here on WA we are told not to put "www" in the link of the website. What is the purpose of that? Does it have any impact on website ranking in search engi

Hi - it's just seen as overkill these days.

For example you don't say to people go to "www.google.com" or "www.facebook.com" - you say "google.com" or "facebook.com" (if you mention the .com at all.

I personally like shorter URLs - so would go with http://mysite.com over http://www.mysite.com - the two are treated separately however as far as search engines are concerned. So don't try and mix them up. Choose one, and stick with it.

You can change whether you have www or not from your DNS records. The default when you setup namecheap and WA hosting is without www.

All the best, Mark

But "www" is added automatically sometimes, how does that affect your website then?

Hi - no - the domain name is what's purchased - not the prefix.

To have a prefix (eg. www or sales or forum) you still have to own the actual domain.

So for example, I cannot setup "mark.wealthyaffiliate.com" as I don't own "wealthyaffiliate.com" - but K&C could easily set it up - just as easily as "www".

Cheers, Mark

So having "www" in your url or not does not affect traffic and website ranking on search engines in any way?

Hi - no it doesn't.

You could have a site setup with www.mysite.com and just mysite.com - you could also have seoheaven.mysite.com - they would all be treated and ranked as separate sites.

People may type in web addresses - but more often than not I suspect, they will be copying it from somewhere - whether a search engine (which will have correctly listed your site, with or without www etc), an email, another website, or a piece of paper - but all of those would have been correctly setup with the right URL.

All the best, Mark

Hi there, please post your Top 10 Premium Website Themes on WA, so it would be a lot easier for people to navigate between them. Thanks!

I use Weaver II and have bought the pro version

I haven't bought it yet but I think optimize press is good for marketing type websites.

Hi everybody, is there a way to fix "-" issue in-between a word in text after uploading pictures and when the word is lost between two lines? This happens when instead of transf

I've never seen this happen on WordPress. It may be theme specific, what are you using? And is there a setting within your theme settings or appearance settings?

Auto text hyphenation problem. "-" in-between a word when jumping to another line.
