Progress
I came across Wealthy Affiliate a short while ago (the evening of 9/18/12, to be exact) and in the time since have read as much as I could, watched a few WAbinars and started developing my first website in years (and my first with the intention of deriving an income.) Some thoughts since beginning:
There are a lot of people who are interested in affiliate marketing...
... but just like in every other endeavor in life, not everyone succeeds. Why? Again, just like in every other thing anyone ever does in life, it comes down to hard work and dedication. Anything someone does without dedicating everything it takes will undoubtedly fail (or at least not be met with the highest level of success.)
That's why I'm so drawn to WAU. Hard work and dedication I can provide. One thing I'm need help with is direction. I've read many times through the past few years is that people can make money and have made lots of it through affiliate marketing. I understood the concept: monetize your traffic by advertising in some way.
But... how do I register the domain? How do I create a site quickly and efficiently enough that THAT isn't too much of a process? How do I get the traffic?
Already I'm much farther along than I thought I could be in such a short while. I owe this much to just one Training, "Your First 10". It's because of this training that I firmly believe that this can work for me. It's already began this journey for me; it's pushed me into a direction that has goals. Real, attainable goals. With steps to get to them.
Although I haven't got any traffic yet, I've already got a site up and running with one piece of original content. To me, that was the hard part. Now that I've got the ball rolling I've just got to keep it that way.
Because an object in motion tends to stay in motion.
Of course, I know this will be a long journey. I know I will constantly have to better myself to make this work.
But I know how much I want this. I know the hard work I put into this is for me and my family and NO ONE ELSE. That's what drives me. As long as that remains my focus this ball will roll forever.
Even if I run out of training material...
... there's a wealth of knowledge in the community, waiting to be learned. When I joined WAU I definitely did not expect the community to be as active, informative and friendly as it has been. Really, I just wanted a place to get some training materials to help take a step in the right direction.
With the community I feel like I got more than a step; I got an entire road, complete with turn by turn navigation on my GPS.
It really is exciting to know that any time I get stuck, feel lost, want to talk, want to share my thoughts or my knowledge that there's a place I can go to do that.
I can't wait to see what the next several months hold for me. I want nothing more than to turn this adventure into my full-time job and when I get there, to give back to this community in the same way it gave to me!
