Build A Website
Good evening or morning (depending on where you are)!
Hope this post finds you all well and good. Continuing on with my new-found focus I have just completed Level 1, module 4 in the OEC training.
Build Your Website!
Coming from a structural drafting background, I am used to the building process. Generally, you start with a concept or idea. We did this in the last lesson with finding a niche. Now we have to make a plan.
Then you move into the design and development stage. This is where we decide which direction we want to take our niche. Are you thinking E commerce, blogging, or informational, etc?
For us beginners, we may not know exactly what we are thinking. That is okay. We are just working through the mechanical basics in this lesson. We will be in the Design and Development stage for a while and that is okay as well.
Wealthy Affiliate provides us with the tools to build out our website easily and quickly. I never put together a set of structural plans in 30 seconds.
In the Design and Development stage we will get the website started. In the drafting world, this is where pencil meets paper, and pre-calculations are made. The design slowly becomes a picture.
We have given it an URL and a name. The name of your website should be the same as your URL. Just remember that you cannot change the URL after you have hit the build site button. You would have to cancel and start over if your use a siterubix website. If, it is a .com, you are stuck till it expires. So choose wisely.
We have chosen a theme. If, it is a free site you only had one choice. If you are a premium member (highly recommended), you have options and can change it if you so desire. Although, the theme they have hand-picked is awesome. Your foundation is set.
So, now that I am at the end of this module I have a free siterubix website started. I have a .com website already, but I wanted to do all the steps as I went through this training again. So I will be working through the tasks with my free site and in the process working on my .com as well.
Take Aways From This Module
My take aways from this module are simple.
WA is probably the best platform I have ever seen for building websites. It is well-built and the training helps get the job done quickly.
Some benefits of this platform are:
- It is fast
- It is secure
- It is robust with features unparalleled anywhere else.
As a starter member you can enjoy the basic and powerful features of:
- Sitemanager
- SiteContent
- SiteBuilder
- SiteDomains
Plus some exclusive benefits and features that make your site fast and secure from hackers, spammers and other erroneous attacks. That list doubles if you upgrade to Premium or Premium+.
If you are also working through the training let me know what you think about the ease at which you have built your base website or as they say in the training the foundation for your business.
Hope you enjoyed this post and have a wonderful evening. Thank you for keeping me on track and moving forward.

You are right on the money, Annette. My experience building a website on WA as a newbie was one of the best as an intro into an actual business venture (plus I had already experienced doing such from another platform and it wasn't pretty).
The ease was and still is great as I occasionally go back to do some of the trainings again.
Yes Chris, I also tried building websites on my own in other platforms and it was not pretty. So much easier here. Thanks for stopping in.
WA certainly opens up the opportunity for people from all walks to create an online presence.
Truly unique.
Your post is a great reminder, Annette.

This is great to know friend. Building a website with W.A. can be done faster with all the tools given. A person just have to plan what he/she wants to do with it. I think training must be done first do get an understanding to move in the right direction. All the best!
Thank you John for stopping in and for your input. I do think that going through it once has helped with direction the second time.
