Get Over It Already-Writer's Block That Is!

It happens to every writer, it is inevitable Writer's block. We've all suffered it. Whether we write once in a while or every day, love creating content or absolutely hate it, we've all experienced this productivity killer. But what you do with it is what really matters. Before we talk about solutions, though, let’s talk about the problem.

  • Is it lack of ideas?
  • Lack of concentration?
  • Is life getting in the way?

You need to try to figure out why your in the gutter so then you try try to find a way to pull yourself back up on top.

  • I don't know what to write about- How I deal with this one is everytime I have an idea about anything I make a note of it on my smartphone so I can refer back when I may be having a creativity issue, or just carry a small notepad with you either will work. You just need to put all those little ideas in a safe place because you will most likely end up using them at a later date as a topic.
  • I'm not sure how to approach my topic-First refine and narrow it down. You can polish it up and make it gleam as you go, it does not have to be perfect right away.
  • I can't find the right words-Just take a little bit of time and do some basic refresher research on your topic, and above all write like you speak. You are trying to cater to your audience so above all you want to be easy to understand and your thoughts should just be able to flow onto the article.
  • I can't write the introduction-There is absolutely no worse feeling than staring at your blank computer screen now is there? Start of by outlining your article or just jump right into the meat of it. You can always come back and do the intro and title when you have something in front of you to look at already. Believe it or not I usually don't have my title done before the article. It just seems easier for to to come up with a title after I have gotten my thoughts down in front of me.
  • I can't seem to come up with supporting examples-Well guess what crowd-source that bad boy...You got it turn to the internet and browse you will be surprised how many different styles and ideas will begin to take shape in your head.
  • Help I keep getting distracted-Turn off social media, instant messengers, cell phone ect. also let anyone else in the house or wherever you write at that you will be working and to please not disturb you.
  • I'm not sure where to start-Break large content creation projects down into smaller more manageable chunks. First it will be easier for you to gauge how long each portion will take to complete, and as you get each small part down you will get a feeling of satisfaction from it and should be able to get into a natural writing rhythm.
  • I'm not qualified to write this- First your readers will be of all skill levels, so use your knowledge to teach others who are just starting out. If you want to take your writing to the next level then step it up a notch, interview and quote experts in your field. Just be humble and honest about what you do know, and what you don’t.

In closing these are just some basic things to keep in mind and think about, and also these are just some of the things that have helped me. Not everything will work for you as always we are all different and what works for me may not work for you, but you can adapt your own strategies to make you a winner at combating Writer's Block. Please feel free to add any tips and suggestions in the comments section after all we are in this together and should help each other out.

Please just remember: You’re good enough, you’re smart enough, and doggone it, people like you!

Great blog.

These are fundamentals of writing that everyone can adhere to. I find my inspiration from simple daily activity, news items and anything else I feel I want to blurt about.

Write like to speak is an easy way to get thoughts on paper, so to speak. But it is suggested to do basic cleanup of the text so save as draft, correct spelling and grammar and most important do not change your mind. Your first thought is usually the best one so do not lose the purpose of the blog you created in the first place by over-editing the piece. That trap is so easy to fall into.

Thank you for your comment. I hope to get everyone else tips on here also as we call all learn from everyone's experiences.
