Why I Open Some Marketing Emails and Ignore the Others

I receive marketing emails almost every day, whether it is from clothing brands, online stores, beauty products , food apps , or random websites I signed up for. Sometimes I open them immediately , while other times I ignore them or delete them without reading them. This made me start to think about waht actually makes people pay attention to marketing emails.

Personally, I think the subject line plays a huge role. If an email sounds interesting , relevant or feels personalised, I am more much likely to open it. However if it sounds overly-sales focused or spammy , I usually ignore it. For example, emails with titles that feel too pushy or overly dramatic sometimes makes me feel less interested rather than curious.

I have also noticed that timing matters. Sometimes I open emails when I am already interested in the in shopping or looking for something specific. Other times, if I am busy or not interested in the brand at that moment , I completely ignore them. This makes me think email marketing is not only about sending emails but also sending the right message at the right time.

Another thing I have noticed is that people probably do not want emails that feel repetitive. Personally , when brands send too many emails in a short period of time , I sometimes stop paying attention or even unsubscribe. However, if a brand sends useful updates, discounts, or content I actually care about , I am more likely to keep opening their emails.

In my opinion , email marketing still works, but only when it feels relevant and not ovewhelming. Even though social media is very popular now, emails can still be effective because they feel more direct and personal when done properly.

Overall, I think the reason I open some marketing emails and ignore others comes down to relevance , timing and trust. If something feels useful or interesting, I will probably click on it However , if it feels too pushy or repetitive it usually gets ignored
