If I am being honest, Facebook is not the first social media app most people think about anymore.
When people talk about social media apps, it is usually TikTok and Instagram that get the most attention.
Personally, I spend more time on those platforms too , which made me wonder whether Facebook is still relevant or if people mainly keep it around out of habit.

At first, it can seem as if Facebook is not as popular anymore, especially with younger audiences. A lot of people now prefer shorter videos , faster content , and platforms that feel more current. Compared to TikTok or Instagram, Facebook can sometimes feel quieter or less exciting .
However, the more I thought about it , the more I realised Facebook still seems to have an important job , just in a different way.
Personally , I mainly notice people using Facebook for things like community groups, Marketplace , local updates, events and staying connected with their loved ones. It feels less focused on trends and more focused on practical things.
I have also noticed that many businesses actively use Facebook . Whether it is local restaurants , clothing stores , beauty businesses , or small businesses , many still post updates, promotions, and communicate with customers there. From a marketing perspective , I think Facebook still matters because not every audience is on the same platform.
At the same time, I do think Facebook feels different now compared to a few years ago. It no longer feels like a main social media platform everyone talks about , but I do not think that automatically makes it irrelevant. Instead, I think that its purpose has changed .
Overall, I think Facebook is relevant in 2026 , but maybe not in the same way it used to be . From what I noticed, people are still using it , just for different reasons . While TikTok and Instagram may dominate trends, Facebook still seems to be useful for communities, businesses and staying connected.
