I was thinking how with social media you can follow somone and you get notified of any posts. I was just wondering if that is possible with our websites?

Here is something you might like to try, I use a combination of plugins with SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam & Subscribe2, to allow viewers to subscribe to my site to get updates anytime I post a new article. You can see how it works here: www.onlineincomescamfree.com
Unfortunately my real day job has taken me away from updating this website recently but I will be back to updating it again soon.

Yes, this is what the RSS feed function is for. It can alert anyone that "subscribes" to your RSS feed to be notified via email (usually, but some people have RSS feed readers) of anytime you post a new blog post. It generally doesn't work with pages though. There are several RSS plug-ins that can put a signup form in a sidebar widget.
