Analytics tools
Hi Everyone,Tracking website analytics
So Your website is up and running, and you are getting a certain amount of traffic. You want to determine how well your website is performing. Of course you would like to know how many people are visiting and to know what pages are being viewed, which are your top-performing pages.
That is not all, however. There is a lot more you can find out about people visiting your website-information that provides a look into the kinds of visitor your website is attracting and the way they find your site.
To find this data about your website's performance, you need a web analytics tool. Web analytics is a collecting of data related to your website visitors. It's a tool to measure the traffic leading to your website and finding out what they are doing during their visit. Which is quite handy.
Web Analytics Tools
Some of the best analytics tools are free, my personal analytics tool that I use and like would be Google analytics (www.google.com/analytics/). The reason I like it for one, it's free and easy to use. It is popular with websites, as it's powerful enough to track all key metrics.
On the main dashboard you will find the following data:
- Site visits per day
- Total number of visits
- Total page views
- Bounce rate
- Average time on site
- Average number of pages per visit
- Top pages
That's just on the dashboard there is more information the more you get into it. After you sign up with Google analytics, Google gives you your unique javascript code. You then copy and paste this code into the underlying HTML of each page on your site you want to track.
Hope this helps.
Angela.
