Progress Update
I intended to post some updates on a regular basis, and I did post a progress update at my one-month mark... and then I stopped posting updates. LOL
But now that it's been over a year, I guess it's time for another update.
I started out in the Affiliate Bootcamp, and I pretty much completed it on schedule. I say "pretty much" because I didn't really finish all the training. I still have some of the PPC training to go through, but I found I was spending too much money without much return, so I took a step back.
In the meantime, I had wanted to start a political / cultural opinion blog, so I figured why not go through the Certification training and use that to build my political website. I've really just gotten started with that, so I don't really have much to report on that. Here are a few thoughts:
1. I have four or five posts now on my political website, and I created them using "Site Content." I like it, but it's taken some time getting used to. There are some things I like about it, such as seeing all your content in one place and seeing which posts have been ranked in Google so far (that would be none so far, but I'm still hopeful). Some of the things I don't like is that I have to publish the post first and then add embeded videos, images, etc. within WordPress, so in some ways it's easier to just use the WordPress editor.
2. I am working a little more slowly since I don't want to quit on my other website where I'm promoting Wealthy Affiliate. But I have made a little progress.
3. I know how polarizing a political blog can be. I know that a lot of people take their political opinions seriously and therefore don't like seeing content they disagree with. it's one of the things that made me hesitant to start it, and it's one of the things that makes me hesitant to share content here. But at the end of the day, it's something I'm passionate about, so why not? And if my posts invite "lively" discussion, all the better. LOL
So, I'm basically just going through the training and trying to complete all the tasks. And at the same time, I look at where my original website is lacking the most and try to focus on that. It's pretty much been publishing frequency as long as I can remember. Writer's block is a problem, but I still try to post something, even if it's not a masterpiece. Imperfect content is better than no content at all.
And so I'm just keeping at it, and hopefully one day I'll make it to Vegas and party with the masters... or if I can become profitable, that'd be cool too.
Until next time...

Hi Andy. I understand what you mean about the political posts. My husband was a history and political science major. He is very well informed and insightful and I think he would do well starting such a blog. He says no one cares what he has to say but I disagree. He has never tried to write outside of college and on Facebook! I think he just hasn't had a good medium to share his thoughts!
It is difficult since WA doesn't allow discussion of politics however so that puts a bit of a damper on doing a political blog.
