How to have a com site instead of a siterubix, with NameCheap
This should be probably a Training Post but I don't know how to do that: What to do if you create a site here with SiteRubix and LATER want to give it some pretty name?
This is what I did:
1. Created and built my website here with the Siterubix website tools (the light blue thing on the left side)
2. Bought a domain name from NameCheap http://t.co/cdpZnqBNws
3. Followed the instructions on how to connect my new domain name to be hosted here at Wealthy Affiliate. Two great videos for that, describing basically the same:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/transfer-...
and
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-tr...
4. However, doing all of this so far did not actually replace my .siterubix.com site to a .com site, I had to figure out the next step on my own. But it was easy!
5. I went to my SiteRubix website manager here at WA, found my website that I wanted to change, liveandtravelyourlife.siterubix.com and clicked on the lighter blue square move
6. The pop-up window asked in Step 1: Where do you want to move your website? I choose To an Existing Domain Already hosted here at WA (the other option To a New Domain only gave me error messages)
7. liveandtravelyourlife.com, that I bought in 2. above and connected to WA in 3., was already there in a drop-down menu, so I just had to select it!
8. Step 2: Now just move your site! After double- (or triple) checking that the spelling and everything was alright, I simply had to hit the big blue button/bar I'm ready, move .......siterubix.com (it was the actual name of my site, but don't want to repeat it here.)
Wow, this was easy, wasn't it?
I just changed my website from http://liveandtravelyourlife.siterubix.com to http://www.liveandtravelyourlife.com which sounds much better.
Now I am happy :-) and hope this helps you too!

Great description on how to do this. I wanted to mention that if you keep your site rubix site as a "test" site after you have moved it to your own domain, you may need to contact support. I tried logging in to my siterubix site to play around with some themes and wasn't able to. Support said that it was because all of my info was being forwarded to my new domain, but they were able to unlink it for me. Now I can access that site independently.
If you do have a test site, make sure that you either check the boxes in all in one SEO for your posts/pages or go into settings, reading and then check the box "discourage search engines...". I have done both of these as I do not want this site indexed.
I have attached screenshots of how to do both.
Thank you so much Tanja! Indeed I was wondering what to do now with my siterubix site which is still up. I have not logged in there yet but I will do these SEO changes.
If you can't log in (which I assume you won't be able to, just contact support and ask them to unlink it so that you can access it). If you have any problems let me know
I didn't try logging into mine until a few weeks after I got my own domain, so I am not sure if that will change. I don't know how the linking works, so you may not want to mess around with the SEO stuff if the pages are connected. Maybe someone on here can respond or just ask support. They are always quick to answer.
