The Power of Imagery on your Website

There are three categories of learning styles in human beings. Some people are Visual, meaning they absorb best what they see. Others are Auditory, so they learn best by hearing. And yet others are Kinesthetic, meaning they grasp best what they feel or experience.

Most people are visual learners. Allen Klein says, "It has been said that 80% of what people learn is visual."

The brain processes visual information 60,000 times faster than text. This is why it is so important to use visually attractive images, videos, photographs and illustrations on our websites. It is also why social media platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest are so popular, effective and successful in getting messages across.

The right visual imagery creates an ambience, a personality and a mood to a website that a visitor can pick up on within seconds of landing on your page and without even reading a word. Just glancing at the images on your homepage can be the deciding factor on whether or not a person will stay. That's how powerful it is.

I'm a photographer myself so I have taken advantage of the power of imagery from the moment I launched my site. In addition, I use stock photography and videography (e.g. Big Stock Photos, Shutterstock, iStock photo, etc.) to enhance my site even further.

Content is key, this is true. But complement it and make it more powerful and more effective with the right imagery!
