How google search works and what happen when you do a web search
What happen when you do a web search on google ?
Need to understand first that when you do a google search you aren't actually searching the web,but infact you are searching google index of the web.Reason why google Index has importance.
Google has invented and developed software program called spiders. When on any search, spiders start fetching a few web pages & then they follow the links on those pages & fetch the page they point to & follow all the links on those pages & fetch the page they link to & so on.There are many millions of pages are stored across thousands of machines !!
Thus for any search query you put in then google spider program searches their index to find every page that include those search terms. There are hundred of thousands of possible results. Then now how does google decide which few documents or query page you really want ? Thats the formula google have invented , which asks question which has more than two hundreds points.Like, how many times does this page contain your keywords ?Do the words appear in the title of the URL,may be directly or adjacently ? Does the page include synonyms for those words ? Is this page from quality website or is it low quality ?Page Rank of the page's? The formula rates a webpages importance by looking at how many outside links point to it & how important those links are.
Thus it combines all those factors and together produces each page overall score & send you back your search results. It is said that it takes about hardly half a second after you submit your search.
