Make Sure Your Audience Can See You

I've been working on a blog to launch February 1. I've been feeling good about the niche, Starting a New Business in Your 50's, and I've been feeling good about the content. But when I was getting ready to do something else, I got hit from left field. I've got to switch themes!

I've played with themes when I've procrastinated, looking for the perfect theme and wanting to see what's new. This time I have a true purpose. My audience needs a new theme.

I'm targeting an older audience. From a practical sense, I need to use a larger font. As someone having a milestone birthday this year (sob!), I've had to face the reality that my formerly perfect vision is declining as I age. Sure, I wear glasses, but I still won't stick around a site that's challenging to read.

So it's back to the theme search, but this time, it's for the right reasons. Time to find one with a more readable font, or one that I can adjust to make a more readable font.

Lesson learned: If you're targeting an older audience, remember that your audience would be turned off if your site is too hard to read.
