Premium Membership, yay!
A while back, an organization that I belong to wanted to set up a WordPress website. As I have experience as a webmaster and know my way around html code and such, I was asked to look into setting up the site. I was intrigued, but I had not yet worked with WordPress and frankly didn’t have the time to learn about it. Another member of the organization took on the task of building the site. He also was just learning about WordPress and, initially, the site was really basic and frankly pretty amateurish. However, the guy kept working at it, learning how to do things in WordPress, and the site became more and more well-structured and professional looking. He has been doing a great job on the site! Watching him rapidly build his expertise with WordPress was impressive, and I anticipated eventually getting up to speed with WordPress, myself… whenever I could find the time.
Well, a few weeks ago, I had the frightening experience of suddenly going blind in one eye! After emergency surgery for a detached retina, I am slowly recovering my sight in that eye. I am off work while I am convalescing. I may only have one good eye, but I also have time on my hands as I had not had previously!
This gave me the opportunity to start browsing online for information about WordPress, and I came upon the Wealthy Affiliate training. The preliminary free training was in easy baby steps, introducing not only WordPress but also search engine optimization (SEO) and other fundamental topics that anyone developing a website needs to know about. The practice-oriented, try-as-you-learn approach of the WA training is very beneficial. The continued training and other services offered with premium membership really looked worthwhile. So, here I am, a newly signed up premium member of WA. I really think that the structure of the training offered by WA will continue to work well for me once I have recuperated from my surgery and am back to my regular schedule. I am really looking forward to continuing to work with WA! Yay!
