Intimidated!

So I found my niche, "casual male fashion", at least something I think I could talk about with relative ease(with enough effort). Problem is although I can write, I'm not much of an avid writer or either need to practice or need more confidence.

Anyways, on every keyword of my selected niche, there's one particular guy who's created something of an authority figure for himself. He writes so much, gives such great advice and useful tips that I'm like "damn, who will be listening to me after this?". Yes I'm really intimidated and it's slowing me down.

I need your help guys, I know not all of you are prolific writers. So for those of you who also had this problem when you started your journey, how did you overcome the hurdle? My goal was at least to write one article a day but so far I'm a bit stuck at half and it's already two days.

Any tricks and tips to make the writing feel less like a chore? The half page I wrote was fun tho, caught myself chuckling a few times but I got stuck when it came to giving advice that the user acttually needs and the like

Thanks Teronie, that's a very useful tip one that keeps you grounded.
cheers

Welcome to WA. It is wonderful that you chosen your niche already. It is easy to feel intimidated but try your best not to. Some people write daily and others don't (like myself). I love to write but just as you say I don't like my writing to become a chore. I trick I generally use is I pick a specific day(s) to write (For example: like Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and the other days I do other things but in spare moments I brainstorm topics and jot it in my note pad. When my writing days come up again I at least have an idea from my note pad I can go off of.

One other thing is to set easy tasks for yourself at first. I know you would like to do one article a day but you have to build a momentum up first. In stead I would suggest to set your goal to 1 really great article per week. try it out for a few weeks then increase it to 2 articles per week. Then 3 per week and keep going soon you will have built up your confidence and you would be hitting your goal of 1 per day because of your momentum.

Good Luck to you - you will do fantastic - Anyway I can help let me know.

Take Care

I wrote an article on this on my own website: http://crimsonleaf.co.uk/how-to-become-a-writer/

BUT: I must give a disclaimer. The site sells my services but has a blog for casual readers. I'm directing you to the blog, not the selling site, although you can access one from the other. Please don't see this as promotion because it isn't. It's just that the article isn't anywhere else because of the risk of duplicate content. If any mod sees this and wants to take it down feel free.

Hopefully, that'll do it.

Thanks Paul, appreciate it!
