Facebook Share Crazy Traffic Increase
Hey guys,
My website is still pretty new. My first article was written at the end of November and I only have 16 total articles written. So far I've only been getting small amounts of search engine traffic. Until yesterday...
Yesterday my traffic jumped... more like skyrocketed. I went from 6 unique visitors on Tuesday to 1,354 unique visitors on Wednesday. Something weird had happened and I didn't want to get my hopes up. After trying to figure out the source of all of this new traffic I realized that it was all coming from Facebook.
Throughout my articles, when I mention a company I also add a link to their website. Well I guess one of these companies saw my link and shared my article on their Facebook page!
Of course this kind of Facebook traffic is temporary as it will decrease as the post moves further down their feed. But there were some long term positives outcomes from this as well.
After my article was posted on the company's FB page, 177 different people shared the article on their own private pages. Additionally, 24 people commented on the FB post to tag a friend that they thought would enjoy the article.
After reading the shared article, many people then read related articles on my website. Surely that's a sign that they found the first article to be interesting/useful information. I even received an authentic comment on an article thanks to all of the traffic yesterday.
Even though this traffic increase will be short lived, hopefully all of the visitor engagement will have longer lasting implications for my very new site. And just knowing that visitors are enjoying my content is enough to encourage me to keep working hard.
Moral of the story - keep on working. This stuff works, good things are happening :)
Thanks for listening,
Amanda

Good for you Amanda, why don't you send a message to the companies that you are going to write about in the future and tell them if they could share your article in their facebook page, the worst thing that can happen is that they say no, cheers.
