What's the best way to prevent failure?
Good news WA Family! Here's a little secret for you...
"You never fail until you stop trying" - Albert Einstein
I'd like to give a big shout out to JudeP for posting her blog yesterday called "How to Never Give Up" along with that cool info graphic. If you haven't read the blog, check it out because it is super motivating.

My blog post does have a good ending, but a disastrous beginning.
First: The Bad News
Over the last week, I did some detailed analysis about my first niche. The results were discouraging.
1. I targeted the wrong keywords for an affiliate marketing business.
2. The metrics on my keywords were updside down. I had to keep lowering traffic to 50 or slightly lower just to keep the QSR under 100. And that's for the majority of my keywords!
3. The SERPS for my keywords were industry giants with page authorities that presented major challenges.Additionally, lots of the SERPs were ecommerce businesses.
Ultimately, I decided that pursuing the first niche is not the best use of my time. My ego reared up in defense! I'd invested two months on that niche! And I'd already talked about this project with friends and family. Does discontinuing work on that first project make me a flake and a failure?
No! It doesn't. As long as I keep trying.
LynneHuy wrote an awesome post yesterday called "Crisis Means Opportunity" that encouraged me to keep on going. If you haven't read it, check it out here.

Now: The Good News
When my alarm clock rang at 0430hrs this morning, I considered hitting the snooze button. Why get up? Its not like I have to write content this morning. On the other hand, a new niche isn't going to magically appear...so I told myself that "if it's to be, it's up to me." With consistency and persistence, I'll find a niche that's right for me.
I FOUND IT!!!!!!! I FOUND IT!!!!!
It's something I can relate to. The search volume is approximately 4K per month. QSRs are under 25. And the SERPS are affiliate type blogs with page authorities under 25.
PARTY!
And so, consistent with JudePs info graphic, I'm going to keep trying and give the next 3 months to this endeavor (to understand the 3 months reference, read her blog post).
The next 3 months are going to be awesome, because I've got 2 solid months of learning and experience as a starting point.
Keep going WA Family, especially if you are new and feeling unsure or a little disappointed. You might make some mistakes like I did, but learn from them.
And remember, you'll never fail if you never give up!
Best wishes to all.
Alyssa

You are welcome. It was indeed honest. Admitting a change of direction online was a good practice before telling family. My ever-loving husband gets it. Others....not so much. That's okay. I'm the one going through the training, learning and doing. It's okay to apply lessons learned and adjust course if necessary!
Thank you so much for mentioning me and linking to my blog. I am also a fan of Lynne's work and read her every day too! I wish you the very best of success at your change of direction and make sure to keep us posted :)
Hi Jude,
You are welcome. I so enjoy your posts and wanted to let you and everyone in my network know about the impact that your blogs have. I'll certainly keep posting my progress!
I'm glad you are finding what you need to continue on. I read both of those blogs you referred to when they came out, JudeP and LynneHuey both have a terrific knack of expressing themselves as do you. I wish you all the success!
Thanks, RaeAnne, for your words of encouragement and feedback on my writing. I appreciate it. Have a fabulous day!
