How I Use AI Without Losing My Voice (Or My Message)
Hey WA family,
I wanted to share a personal reflection that’s been on my heart lately as we step deeper into this exciting, AI-powered era.
Like many of you, I was both curious and cautious when AI tools first became part of the content creation process. I’m a blogger and affiliate marketer—and also someone who deeply values connection, authenticity, and staying true to my core message.
So, I asked myself early on:
👉 Can I use AI and still sound like me?
👉 Can I speed up my workflow without losing the heart behind my words?
The answer is yes, but it took some trial and error. 😊
🤖 Why I Was Hesitant to Use AI at First
When AI started becoming more mainstream, I worried that my content would start sounding robotic, generic, or worse—disconnected from my readers.
After all, my readers don’t just come for information—they come for a personal touch, stories, encouragement, and honesty.
I didn’t want to compromise that just to get content out faster.
✨ How I Keep My Voice (And Message) Authentic
I eventually found a rhythm that works for me. Here's what I do:
✅ Use AI for structure, not substance. I ask it to help me outline blog posts, generate title ideas, or suggest bullets, but I always write the final draft in my own voice.
✅ Edit with intention. Even when I use AI-generated drafts, I go back and rewrite sections, so they reflect my tone, my audience’s needs, and my real-life experiences.
✅ Ask myself: Would I say this out loud? If it sounds too “perfect” or detached, I rephrase it into something I’d naturally say in a conversation.
✍️ A Few Prompts That Enhance (Not Replace) My Voice
Here are some real examples of prompts I use with ChatGPT or other AI tools:
- “Give me a friendly, empathetic blog intro for moms trying to make money from home.”
- “Help me brainstorm SEO titles that sound conversational and encouraging.”
- “Summarize this product’s key benefits for a beginner who might feel overwhelmed.”
- “Suggest a few gentle ways to introduce a call-to-action without sounding salesy.”
These kinds of prompts support my writing process, but I always bring my own lens, stories, and experience to the final piece.
💡 Final Thoughts: You Don’t Have to Choose Between AI and Authenticity
AI is a powerful tool—but it’s just that, a tool. It can amplify our work, help us be more consistent, and even unlock new creative ideas.
But it doesn’t replace your voice, your story, or your mission.
So, if you’re still navigating how to integrate AI into your workflow without losing your uniqueness, you’re not alone. And you’re not doing it wrong. You’re just being thoughtful.
And that, to me, is the real secret to long-term success online.
Would love to hear your thoughts…
How do YOU use AI in a way that still feels like “you”?
Let’s keep learning from each other. ❤️

Spot on post Alice! AI is a tool just like a spanner in my tool box!
It can certainly speed up many processes for us, but.... we should NEVER use it to replace us!
Enjoy the rest of your week my friend! :-)
This is crucial to learn for anyone in a field that utilizes writing as a medium of communication. I use AI for Brainstorming, collaborating, editing, etc. But I keep my hand on the controls. So that my voice is preserved.
JD
Absolutely, JD—you summed it up perfectly. Keeping “our hands on the controls” is such a powerful way to put it.
AI is a fantastic partner for brainstorming, editing, and collaboration, but at the end of the day, our voice, values, and experiences are what make the content meaningful and relatable.
I’m glad we’re on the same page with this! Wishing you continued success as you create with both intention and authenticity. 🙌
Thank you, Alice.
I gave ChatGPT a test. I asked it what the worst profanity was that I would allow in my books. She got it right within certain circumstances. But I added two more words that could be used if the circumstances were right for it. But no F-Bombs or anything like them. But then Chatty got the next two questions wrong because she went into the world of the story we have been working on, instead of here in reality.
It was fun. :D
JD
As the disclaimer states, "ChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important info."
So, yeah, we should always double-check and verify.
😉
Mistakes are one thing, Alice.
But when the AI starts disregarding your explicit instructions, even the customization protocols I had in place. That is not a mistake. Because Chatty exhibited a high level of Cranial Flatulence, I missed my self-imposed deadline to have five chapters of each of the four stories I posted today on Substack. I had to finish one chapter today, and will have to do one tomorrow. Then I can start working on the next five chapters of each story.
Sorry if I ranted.
JD
Keeping your voice is a huge concern, too many are falling flat by letting only the AI do the heavy lifting when it should be more of a research and structure tool to make YOU better.
Absolutely, Andy—you nailed it. That’s exactly the point I wanted to highlight in my post.
AI should be a helpful assistant, not a replacement for our voice, thoughts, and experiences. When we use it the right way—as a tool for research, brainstorming, and organizing—it can actually make our content stronger without losing us in the process.
Appreciate you sharing this insight. It’s such an important reminder for all of us in this space. 🙌
Hi Alysanna
I read your post with great interest. It's very educative and inspirational as it demonstrates how you can integrate human mind and that of a machine to produce authentic and unique blog post. This post will be useful to some of us just starting blogging and affiliate marketing
Hi Nosa,
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊
I’m really glad you found the post helpful and inspiring. Finding that balance between using AI tools and keeping our own authentic voice is definitely a journey, but it’s one that empowers us to create better content without losing who we are in the process.
Wishing you all the best as you continue building your blog and affiliate marketing journey—you’ve got this! 💪
