Disappointed and a Bit Hurt — Would Love Your Thoughts

Hi WA friends,

I’ve been a part of this amazing community long enough to appreciate the value of Site Comments—not just for boosting engagement but for building genuine support among fellow bloggers.

Recently, I left a thoughtful comment on a fellow member’s blog post. Like I always do, I read the post myself and then used GPT (yes, I use AI—guided by my own thoughts and tone) to help me shape a meaningful and relevant comment.

To my surprise, the comment was disapproved. I understand that we all have the right to accept or reject comments for various reasons, and I usually respect that. But what caught me off guard was the reason given:

“I only asked for 2 responses, this is the 4th. Now get your AI act together and stop doing this shite....”

Honestly, I was taken aback—not by the rejection itself, but by the tone. I had no control over being the 4th commenter. The Site Comments dashboard doesn’t always show how many comments have already been submitted, and it’s common to receive more than you ask for.

In fact, it’s usually a good thing—you can choose to publish extras later.

What also made me wonder: Did the same thing happen to the 3rd commenter? Or was I singled out because they assumed my comment was purely AI-generated? Either way, I believe we all deserve respectful communication—especially when we’re sincerely trying to support each other.

I’m not posting this to stir conflict. I just felt hurt, and I wanted to ask:
Has anyone else experienced something similar? How do you respond when your sincere effort gets treated this way?

We’re all here to grow and learn together. I would love to hear your perspective. 💬

Alice

Hey Alysanna,

Only just seeing this post now, sorry that happened and that it affected you, naturally.

Just plain rude and really no need for such poor behaviour.

As everyone has already said in this feed, its not you, it's clearly them.

I hope that you have regrouped and moved on positively from that rudeness.

Wishing you all the best
Cherie 😊🍦

Thank you, Cherie. I really appreciate it.

I've moved on from this situation, and I was able to figure out who that member is 😂. I didn't search for his profile intentionally; I was looking for an answer to a query I had, and suddenly, I came across his post.

I noticed that this is just his usual tone. After reading some of his conversations with other members, I realized he tends to be brutally frank, to the point where he often comes off as rude, lol.

Glad you moved on from this and your research confirms its him, not you.

When I get a new comment, I get a notification of it along with a link to who has made the comment, so it's easy to 'find' who is engaging on my site - obviously you have now found that option.

It's just not nice, nor necessary to treat others in that fashion.

Good for you for moving past this situ( and of course I am reminding you of it a month later, oops).

Cherie 🍦😁👍🏽

That's okay, Cherie. I'm good; we're good. 😁

That is not fair to you, or appropriate. Let me know through PM what has taken place, and I will investigate.

One thing that you should consider is removing "em dashes" from your responses and your posts if you are using AI, even if it is heavily influenced by you, this immediately yells out this is AI. Something to consider in all of your communications moving forward. :)

Thank you, Kyle.

I have sent the PM and directed it to Site Support.

Gosh, this was harsh

You are not the problem...

Sorry for what had happened to you.
It’s not a good practice in this peace loving and caring community.

I had two comments disapprove years ago and was hurt by it too. I was fairly new at this time. But now, I have a 100% success rate on my comments. People rudeness is par for the course. You are not the first to have a negative response like this.

Now I wont tell you how petty I would have been in my response on his website 😂. But however, no one deserves that type of response that you received. Which is why I do one or two site comments every week and let time go by to spread out all of the possible negative nancies. For the most part i respond to very niche websites.

Like crochet, English language teaching courses, etc. I do not respond to websites that I have no knowledge of. I do not skip sites I do not know either, I just let time go by and allow other site commenters to respond to it so that I can be suggested a site that I am familiar with. That is just what i do.

Do not be disappointed people will be people. Move on to the next site.

Heres a digital hug 🤗

Thanks so much, Shakida—and I’m taking that digital hug 🤗

Since I started using Site Comments, I think I’ve had about four disapprovals total. Still, each one stings a little—especially when the rejection is worded unkindly.

I completely agree with your approach. I also avoid commenting on topics I know nothing about. It’s really hard to leave a meaningful comment when you don’t even understand what’s being discussed! 😅

I usually just click “ignore” but make sure to stay well under that 20% skip limit.

Thanks again for your encouragement. You're right—people will be people. Moving on and focusing on the good is always the better choice.
