Learn to Learn Faster

I am constantly learning, even while I work. If I'm doing busy work that doesn't require my undivided attention I'll put on a video that I can listen/watch in the background so I'm killing two birds with one stone. I've listened to accounting videos, language videos, I learned how to do my current online business via video and I've listened to audiobooks.

I also watch live video classes here at WA while I work. I've learned quite a bit this way because I watch all videos in 2X speed or more depending on the speaker's talking speed...even if it does require my undivided attention.

My ears are trained at this point to listening in 2X speed. It's actually excruciating for me to watch explainer videos in regular time! As a matter of fact I don't even know what Kyle sounds like in regular time. I've done all of the WA certifications in 2X speed.I have attended some live trainings so I do know how Jay sounds. :)

I always love live trainings and webinars because of the engagement in chat that you don't get when you're watching replays. So hearing live trainings in real time doesn't kill me because I am also reading the chat feed and that keeps my mind busy during "slow talk" and pauses.

I'm sure there are many apps and software that work for speeding up video, but I use a Google Chrome extension for this on my laptop called Video Speed Controller and an Iphone/Ipad app called SpeedTube.

Video Speed Controller: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/video-sp...

SpeedTube: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speedtube/id408858...

Once you add the Google Extension for Video Speed Controller, while you're watching any video online, including here on the WA website, just hit "D" on your keyboard to speed up the video to your liking. If you need to slow the video down you hit "S" on the keyboard. This extension works with any HTML 5 video, like YouTube. If it doesn't work then you may be watching a Flash video.

SpeedTube I use on my Ipad or Iphone mostly when I'm listening to AudioBooks on YouTube.

YouTube.com has a built in speed control, but the YouTube App does not and you can't speed up YouTube on a mobile device at the time of this writing. YouTube allows you to go up to 2X in .5 increments where the speed controller extensions and apps have more speed options.

Feb 2019 update...It's still useful to have a google or firefox extension that controls video speed when you are working from a computer.

Thankfully now YouTube has its own speed controls! So, if you have the YouTube app on your phone or mobile device you can watch any YouTube video up to 2X speed.

Note that the Speedtube App is no longer available, possibly due to the YouTube update.

Some good points, thanks.

great share. thanks!

Thanks for reading my post Jerome! I hope these speed tools are helpful. I've been listening to video in 2X speed for over 2 years now. I started listening at 1:25 and kept building from there. :)

A great way to fast forward learning!

I think so. Thanks for reading!
