Try A Fresh Pair Of Eyes

Do you ever feel like you are just revising the same page or post over and over again? Are you getting to the point where you're almost tired of reading your own writing? You probably are if you're working diligently on your online endeavors here at Wealthy Affiliate.

I realized something the other day. It wasn't a genius idea or even new. It was just fresh. I had been so eager to work on my website layout and add to my pages that I realized I wasn't writing from the right perspective. I asked a friend of mine to check out my website and tell me what he thought. This friend is currently attending college for computer programming and networking so I thought it would be a good idea to get his opinion.

I didn't tell him everything because I wanted to see what he took from it on his own. This friend had never heard of Wealthy Affiliate so I knew it would be a completely unbiased review of my website thus far. He looked it over and gave me the good news first. He said he enjoyed my layout, it was a clean theme, and that overall, I'm a decent writer. I smiled and said thanks. Then he told me something that almost knocked me over. It didn't hurt my feelings at all. It just left me dumbfounded.

He said, "What exactly is your goal here? By that I mean, you haven't specifically stated your mission and your background. As someone that doesn't know about Wealthy Affiliate, I'm just a little confused."

Wow! Boy did I need to hear that. Duh. I realized that I had been so caught up in consuming every bit of literature related to affiliate marketing that I wasn't being clear enough. It got me thinking and I just wanted to share this quick story with you guys. It makes you think about your own work, doesn't it?

Sure, we write what we think is a great page or post and then we publish it and ask for feedback from other WA members. We love hearing the positives but often don't hear what we truly need to work on. Yes, comments on your actual website should be positive and engaging to build up your overall trust. However, we need to be a bit more honest with our fellow members here within WA.

When you read someone's new review, page, post, etc. be helpful. Remind yourself when you are writing that your readers do not know of Wealthy Affiliate just yet and if they do, maybe they have come to you for clarification. So clarify! Be clear. Take a break from creating content and absorb some info and advice. Then go back tomorrow and revisit your work. Does it make sense? If you had no prior knowledge on affiliate marketing, would you understand what the author is saying? Does your website clearly state a mission? And do readers know and trust you?

This is just some food for thought. I really appreciate my friend's feedback and I'm really glad that I asked for it. So keep an open mind and try asking someone outside of WA what they think. If they look confused or have too many questions then you know what you need to work on. For me, I'm working through the Bootcamp lessons but the same idea applies if you are going through the original training as well. Make sure that your niche is clear and people know what you are writing about.

Hope this post finds you well. Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a beautiful day. If you've enjoyed it, then tell me! I appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks again,

Allison

I just started the Bootcamp, this advice could not have come at a better time.
Be clear and see it from the visitors point of view.
Thanks as you said, sometimes we get so distracted and carried away focusing on everything else but this.

Roopesh

Hi, Roopesh. Thanks for reading and I am so happy that I could help you. Congrats on starting your bootcamp journey. That's what I am working on as well. Right now I am still trying to balance my full-time job, family time, and WA time to produce the much needed content for my site. I wish you the best here at WA and I know you will find all the help you need. Please feel free to message me or another WA member if you get stuck or just want honest feedback.

Yeah, balancing WA along with your other commitments is not easy.I wish you everything of the best as well.

I agree. I need to include more of my mission, intent and goals here. It's all clearly to help others in this market and earn some income in the process. .............Scotty B :]

Thanks for the comment, Scotty. I hope you found this helpful. I still need to clean up and edit pages using this thought process.
