Hi guys
I have a question regarding creation of child theme. On the net I found two ways to inherit the properties of parent theme:
1. By defining operator @import
Good question. I'm sorry but I can't help because such technical things aren't my strenghts. I guess on YouTube they'd have some step-by-step tutorials for that.

Creation of child theme, how I do it right?

have you checked out marions training on child theme creation.
or there will be a plugin to cover the child theme creation'
Hi
I found a solution. I activated my child theme, and got my website without logo and background image. Then I entered my wp-admin area, chose "customize" option and attached both logo and background image from the beginning. It doesn't fill as a good solution from the object oriented point of view, because I define it twice: once in parent theme and once in child theme. But anyway it works.
Thanks

Hi, Everybody.
Could you please share your thoughts about iherb affiliate program?
I mean, all pros and cons.
How it differs from Am
I think it's legit but not 100% sure. I signed up for them and got a small commission. However, one package that I've ordered from them didn't ever arrive and they gave a refund but said that next time they won't give. My friends had positive experiences but online I've read tons of negative experiences of iHerb.
So, I still wasn't sure if it's 100% reliable. I think it is but I'm just not 100% sure.
Hi, Roope
Thank you.
This is exactly my dilemma:
All this process to start with Amazon is pretty annoying and full of troubles.
It is much easier to start with IHerbs.
But, as you say, IHerbs are less reliable.
Anayway, for beginners IHerb may be a good study case.
Kind Regards
Alex
Yeah, you can start with iHerb and see how it goes. You may even test that your friend buys through your link and see how it works. Well, maybe it's not 100% according to their rules but at least you'd see how the system works, right? :)
Hi - I haven't heard of them, but I had a quick look on their affiliate page. They work with those who publish content on fitness, nutrition, health and beauty and pay 5% commission, paid in US dollars. They supply the images, you can't just copy them.
Hi, Diana.
Great thanks you for an answer.
There is one thing I didn't manage to understand: I thought that "supply image" is the same as allow to "copy image" or to "download image". So will they give me the jpeg image? Or an API, as Amazon usually does?
Thanks a lot
Alex
I imagine it would be similar to Amazon, where you are given the code to paste into your site. It specifically says on iherb that if you require a different image, you have to contact them first.

Hi Alex - all fine here. I'm sure support will fix it soon.
My site has been down in the past and they've fixed it. I also get times when it's very slow to load - up to 30 seconds so not as bad as you. Supoort fixes it but refuse to say what the problem was so it's impossible to investigate any further :-(
Hope it's fixed soon.

Hi, Ian
My site is down for 3 hours without any update from the Support Team. I am beginning to worry a liitle bit.
Regarding slow loading times I have a feeling that they prioritise our websites according to the traffic rates we have. In the lack of the resources they give faster speeds to the sites with the better traffic. But it is only my assumption.
Thanks
Alex
3 hours is absolutely unnacceptable. Most hosting ervices promise 99% uptime which sounds great but in a 1 month period that means it could be down over 7 hours!! I'd try another message. At the very least they ought to tell you what the problem is and how long it will be before it's fixed.
Yes, I'm sure not all ouir site are hosted equally. It may be the traffic thing or it could be there are too many sites on one server.
Hope they come through for you soon.
Ian
Hi Alex,
Sorry about that. Mine is fine.
Have you contacted support yet?
I hope the issue gets resolved quicker!
Hi, Jane
Thank you
I contacted support half an hour ago. The website is still unreachable.
Kind Regards
Alex
Hang in there Alex,
I'm certain support will find a solution soonest. WA support is the best.
Hi
Today I opened the ticket for support team, because my website is completely down.
But should I open a ticket about all these short-time issues? That what is bothering me. Can I somehow to log all these unreachable states and submit to the support team as a case study?
Thanks
Alex

Hi, guys
I requested comment on my new post, but got 5 instead. I don't want to add 5 posts in one day. What should I do with coments, that I don't want to use? The comme
Yes, thanks. I sent those comments to Trash . When I will need them, I move it to Unapproved, change date and then publish.
You might have a problem if you leave them in trash for too long tho! I do remember someone saying that after 30 days that WP will delete them automagically, whether we want to or not.
I'm not 100% but please do check!
If they're good, I keep them. You can set them to a pending status and you can even change the submission date on them. Don't waste something you can use later. Make it your own and use it as you see fit.
Hi. Thanks for the answer.
And setting them to a pending status means to send them temporarily to trash?
You can disable/enable search engine indexing whenever you want
Access WordPress admin area and go to Settings and select Reading. There you will find an option called Search Engine Visibility. Check the box that says Discourage search engines from indexing this site. ... Press Save button to apply the changes.
Also you can delete any comment you want ... Send them to trash and you can retrieve them when you want
Thanks a lot.
And if I send them to trash immidately, Will Google overlook them and not punish me?
What will happen when I retrieve them? Will Google check the date of comment creation? (In fact, the comments will be backdated).
If you send them to trash they won't appear on your page anymore. Google wont punish you for that. You are free to handle and manage your comments as you want.
When you retrieve them, they will re-appaear on your page (if they are approved).
Honestly, I don't know how can you change the submission date without editing the Wordpress database entry ... Maybe there is a plugin ... You should ask Scott ...
Your reply here make me wonder. I just got my new pro theme and only have about 5-10% of the content (already written, but not posted) on the site. I want to add perhaps 15-20 1500 word posts to the site by Jan. 1. All will be permanent categories in my side menu. Should I disable search engine indexing until I have all my content posted?
Depends Mark ...
Usually, a site with a few posts is not attractive to readers and visitors. This is why usually is a good idea (as you said) to create a given quantity of initial content before you launch your site. Now that's from a human and content-related POV ...
In terms of SEO is almost irrelevant ... The only reason why we have that option, is that search engines could find your site even without submitting it ... And you don't want to appear in their index or search results while your site is "under construction" ... Meaning: final shiny layout and site structure, working menus and links, all features added, etc
