Does anyone know of a Wordpress theme that has a widget that allows you to collect email addresses on your page? I have seen a few sites that have that and I would like to obtain emails to notify people of new posts as well as build a list

If you are referring to collecting email addresses for marketing purposes, it is best to use an autoresponder (as suggested already by @abbieaj) because it helps you manage both the volume of emails collected and the messages sent to them. Other collection methods, can fast become unwieldy.
