Step on it!

I recalled an incident from my childhood, which always spur me on when I get cold feet for any new challenges.

I remember my first lesson in Fine Art and how the teacher taught us a great wisdom in a very simple way.

It was a rainy day in the tropics, with mud everywhere. The teacher handed out a blank sheet of paper to each pupil a to check both sides of the white A3 paper on our desk, then he asked: "Who among you can tell me the content of that paper on your desks?"

We all checked both sides and then one pupil yelled from the back of the class: "It's blank sir!" and we all laughed.

Then the teacher looked piercingly and smiled cunningly at us all. Then commanded in a very sharp, military-like tone: “Get up and step aside from your desks… Take that blank paper with you!"

We did as instructed and waited obediently and curious what will happen next.

“Put the paper on the floor in front you and STEP ON IT!” he shouted as he did the same.

Almost in unison, we all stepped on the blank sheet of papers in at our feet with our wet muddy shoes, as the teacher lifted his own paper up, exhibited it proudly to the class saying: “You know what? It is no longer blank!” He further explained that sometimes all it requires to make a good impression is to make an attempt.

So I am following that instruction from my childhood again, which led me to be crowned as the “Fine Art Giant of Victory High School” until I graduated, and launching today my first blog ever here on the W A platform.
