The Great DA Debate: Let's Hear It
Domain Authority.
At the first sound, most people I know put their heart and soul into DA as the goddess of SEO.
I've recently been doing some exploring on ways to increase my DA and decided to have a deeper peek at how it all works.
As many of you have, I couldn't help but have a look at Fiverr to see what's happening.
On Fiverr, obviously there are many sketchy low-level/cheap sellers that you immediately know to back away from.
Then, you have a gig like this that I came across. It's not cheap and the person seems to know what they are doing.
But then...you take a peek at public opinion on such DA increase assistance. I mean, folks on this reddit don't seem to mess around on their opinions of DA and DA services.
Perhaps the following quote caught me out the most:
"Don't focus on DA. It is a waste of time. No search engine on the planet uses DA."
Well, that was news to me.
So, here's my challenge for this discussion.
1) First, take a peek at the Fiverr gig (I promise I am not associated with this in any way, but it is one of the more expensive/legitimate looking ones I could find for an example).
2) Have a 2-minute read through this reddit thread to see the perspectives. (Here is also a similar dsicussion on Moz.com for the overachievers.)
Now, having seen these two stark differences, here are my questions for you:
What is your opinion of DA?
Do you think a gig like this effectively raises DA?
Do you give merit to the lack of importance for DA that many on the reddit thread seem to declare?
The jar of worms is open.

That is all over my head. If it doesn't affect Google rankings, what is their purpose. Sorry if I'm being a bit thick!
Addison, DA is never been a high priority of mine.
I continue to write good content, sometimes with effective keywords and sometimes not.
Quality content is found regarding and that builds your DA.
Thank you for sharing.

I agree with Dale. You can't really force 'domain authority'. It is the product of people's opinions from good information and offerings.

Forget DA, just focus on building a website full of quality content & DA will take care of itself.

I focus on creating more and more useful content over time - and I do not worry about sketchy "tricks" to try to artificially force (fake) numbers up faster.
Thats a better way (in my humble opinion...) of building a long term sustainable real business that provides actual value in exchange for fair compensation.
Best regards,
