Am I Hurting Myself?

This is about the reviews I write on my website. Whenever I write a review about a product, I have a segment called "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

At this point, I go over the positive aspects of a device, why consumers love it so much and then I point out negative issues that they might run into as well.

When I receive comments, sometimes people say things along the lines of "I was thinking about buying this product but based on your review, I'll look for something else". Granted, I do have some people that appreciate the honesty but still say they plan to buy said product, regardless of the negative aspects.

I'm the same way. If something is 4 stars, I'll look at the negative reviews, but I'll still buy it. Even if something is 3 stars, I'll get it, but it can't be an electronic device. Electronics have to be 4 or more stars in my opinion.

I wonder about those people whose mind I've supposedly changed. My website is still new, so I'm not getting much traffic, but when it increases, will my format do more harm to my profits than good?

I do the most honest research I can to get the information out to the consumer but I wonder if I'm shooting myself in the foot when I point out too many of the negative issues.

Well... I suppose honesty is always the best policy!

You have to give an honest review, even the bad points.
If you want the potential customers to trust you, you have to gain that trust by telling the full story and then letting them make up their own minds. Positive and negative shows you have done the research and are not just trying to dupe them into buying.

Hope this helps

Always best to be honest. Personally I am a little leary of a glowing review with no negatives.

If you have presented the facts, both negative and positive you are helping people to decide for themselves and that is what we want to do in the online world. To guide them and that's actually what you did either to decide to buy the product you reviewed or not.

Never cheat your customer. Have you ever heard something like this?

Well, it relates both in life and in business. Be honest with what you do, what you say and how you say it.

In business never cheat your customer because you want make a quick buck.

Giving an honest review of products on your website will attract more traffic to your website. Always remember that we are in a network society, where technology especially internet is the core.

What others find out through your website will be shared over the internet by your site visitors.

So what you are doing is great. I would encourage you to continue as it is not too bad.

Cheers Man!

Honesty is the best policy! In the end, you will get your reward. If you honestly feel your review is accurate, then roll with it!!

Agree with everyone here. Honest is the way to go. You can always write another review as an alternative to the first product, and at the end of the post prompt readers that if they like, they can hop over to this other review that they may be interested in. That is, if you can find a better product serving the same purposes.

Lol, I actually do that already. I guess I'm going in the right direction

Honesty is always the best policy, Ibrahim. People who read your reviews will have the pros and cons and will make up their own minds by having both sides.

Keep it up and give honest reviews. After all, it is one person's opinion.

I'm not sure because I'm new to this, but I think Google Analytics might be a good tool to use so you can see what articles people are responding to. Best wishes to you!

Hi Ibrahim,

You see the world today is so bad that honesty gets punished sometime.

Despite that, honesty and sincerity pays in the long run. In the part of Africa, where I come from, we say if lie has been on a journey for 20 years, truth will catch up with it in one day.

Do be encouraged and build a good reputation for yourself. Do not be discouraged by what appears as if you are losing now. You are not. You are building a reputation. Keep at it. Someday your reward will come.

I wish you all the best.
