Social Media - The Worlds gone Crazy

So I was doing some research for a future post and had to stop and ask myself "just who and how is someone going to see my content" ? With the resent explosion of SEO changes and making sure that your site is mobile friendly, what the latest and greatest of social media technology and trends will be ever more important. It got me thinking about how do I need to change the way that I write post and if I need to change my site in any way to attract more attention. Here is what I came up with, you may need to do your own research to tune your site.

It seems that the more "wearable" a mobile device is, the more likely that someone will use it to find relevant content. Content is the keyword that is on everyone's mind. It's like how we used to use the news or a newspaper, relevant content that is accurate and as current as possible. Content is knowledge, used to make decisions on the spot, used to decide the future of a business, or as simple as what to have for lunch.

Social Media allows us to tap into the global consciousness. The collective knowledge. However, are we really taking advantage of the experience of everyone on the planet? There are some who are left out, those without electricity or an internet connection. Some would argue that those people are not a part of the modern world to matter much to what information that one needs right now. I say they are part of the whole world social economic, political, and general knowledge base of history. We all know what happens to those who ignore history. Some bright person in a poor third world country may have found a medical cure, a scientific discovery, or just finished a musical masterpiece. Yet they are not able to "share". Even here at WA, we are writing the collective knowledge of our lives in order to attract the Google gods into recognizing our authoritative mastering of a subject worthy to be admitted to the honorable first results page. Almost sounds medieval, the have's (kings) and the have not's (servants). Such is our struggle.

Look around you, if you are sitting in your living room. Do you see advertising ? How about a scrolling screen informing you what the nieghbors or your friends are up to at this very moment ? Unless you are online, the answer is no. We naturally do not surround ourselves with such things, Pictures, paintings, and music fill our personal space. Yet when out in the public, conformity of the latest trends are necessary to appear to be part of a larger group. Thus social media has bent our heads down, fingers flashing, creating content that others in the group would find informative, entertaining, or just plain silly.

Has the need to be connected turned introverts into hermit extroverts and therefore back into introverts. Our whole universe, even our "personal space", condensed into whatever size screen we are using. Sounds like an addiction. Has texting and sharing replaced our ability to communicate as we have done for thousands of years. Telepathy through technology. When will people reject the whole thing, I'm sorry to say that this may be with us for a while.

Good or Evil ? Social media allows us to find the nearest hospital, yet at the same time recruits terrorist. Content is relevant to someone. Einstein would be rolling his eyes. What of the matter of Electromagnetic Fields creating harmful brain tumors by holding a connected device too close to ones head ? A byproduct of the addictive like need to be connected? Content is the new battlecry.

The fight between the big dogs of Apple,Facebook,Google, Microsoft, and Amazon to name a few will be fought in the courtrooms. Meanwhile, we write the best content that we can in order to persuade our readers to buy something from our advertisers. Yet the battle has changed the landscape. An article in disruptivetelephony gives an in-site into things to come http://www.disruptivetelephony.com/2014/07/the-mob....

There is even talk of companies only allowing content to be shared on the devices that they produce. For instance Apple only allowing content to be shared on it's iPhones and tablets.Ever hear of Meerkat ? Instant social media streaming. You can become your own news source like CNN or FoxNews, yet who will censor the content. Will Net Neutrality make the battlefield even ?

The best minds in the realm of Internet Marketing cannot even agree on the future http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/social-media-ma....

The best we can do at the moment is to keep writing the best content that we can. Maybe, just maybe someone, head bent before the Google gods, will read the product of our wordcraft. Maybe they will buy something. We have to ride the wave to the end to find out what happens.

May the Content Force be Strong in You.
