Saying Goodbye To An Old Friend
Hey everyone!
Today is bitter sweet...
My wife and I are currently in the middle of a big move. We finally found a new and bigger house that was exactly what we were looking for! It has lots of room for our children to grow and play, space for our studios and offices, and even a spacious for my man cave!
(I'm still in shock that my wife ok'd that one)
But there is one problem...
My Favorite Couch In The Entire World Will Not Fit!!!
We're talking the couch to end all couches!
It's magical powers would allow it to mold around your body in a magical cloud on comfort and if you weren't careful, it's soft lullaby would put any unsuspecting victim into a deep deep sleep.
I have spent many peaceful hours wrapped in it's comfort cacoon binge watching my favorite shows, working dutifully on my sites, bouncing my children on my knees, and even the ocassional royal rumble with my son chocked full of worry-free body slams.
But unfortunately it will not fit through any of the doors of our new place. And trust me, I have tried!
I have been promised another with "claims" of the same magical comfort and wonder...
But I'm not so sure.
Perhaps I will learn to love it the same. Only time will tell.
All I know is that it will be missed.
In the meantime, It's time for one more wrestling match in the front yard.
I need to try to reclaim the belt from my son! He's been undefeated for years!!!
Ding! Ding!

I am so sorry for your loss, I feel your pain my brother for another mother. I hope that the new couch is as comfortable and that you can create more memories with it.

I wish you the best in your new home, may it bring you great success in WA. Are you sure that new couch will not fit into the doorway, just by how much does it miss getting through, remember the door jams do come off, it's a simple task. First pick the largest entryway, remove the door, take the screws out of the hinges so you can remove them, then gently remove the outer trim of the doorway, there may be several pieces to the outer trim, gently remove that so not to crack it. Once all the outer trim has been removed, then the larger interior trim piece can be removed from both sides of the door. Then all you need do is reverse the procedure, to reassemble. All you need for this project is a claw hammer, a good screwdriver and a good prybar. This will give you an additional 2 to 4 inches on either side, I know for sure your couch will get through that opening. Just make sure the wife is not at the new home when you are going to do the project, wives usually get bonkers when they see their doors taken apart. You cannot believe what I have gotten through doors in my time, actually if I wanted a couch that bad, I would literally tear out the doorway to the garage and rebuild it larger, with better framing/trimming and a much more attractive door, of course I am nuts LOL and love these kinds of projects.

You know I thought about it. I've framed doors before so I'm sure I could get it done but you're right, my wife would freak out! She's got a lot on her mind right now and I don't wanna add any undue stress. Plus she has really fallen in love with the new one already. But I have good news!! I have decided that its going in the shed/workshop. Just got done buttoning up the shed from the elements. Next step, insulation. Itll be a nice addition to the think tank.
Cheers
Andrew

All is SAVED, Andrew!
