5 Tips to Better Your Chances at a Google Featured Snippet!

1. Strive to answer question style searches or search queries. Queries to aim for are the ones with a snippet already featured in the search results.
2. Look up these key phrases and find similar questions in Google's People also ask section. Write up some comprehensive quality content and provide answers to any questions that may be relevant to your post content.
3. Structure and organize your content better than any of your competition. When you are creating your content, answer very factual and concisely. Layout your content very well with Heading 2 and Heading 3 tags.
4. Utilize bullets, tables and numbered lists verses long paragraphs. Your goal should be to keep it short & sweet and summarize your content.
5. Provide content that is similar with top ranking search results. Make sure it is suitable for skimming and cell phone friendly.

I am adding a 6th Tip

Make sure to optimize your images. I recently was doing some ranking research on my MMO site. I discovered a front page snippet listing for it. The snippet was from my site but the image was from affilorama, it even had affilorama dot com.

I did some investigating to why this was happening. What I found is the images on my page had the generic name kdkd939035890dfkjdfsf.png

The search engines want to put relevant pictures and they do this by picture name, alt tags and captions.

So Tip 6 is to optimize your pictures. Use a keyword.png name. Use alt tags with keywords and a caption with key phrase.
