Change your life overnight and discover your calling.

I recently met WA.

Everything happened in one of those moments you believe it is time for a change ... a change you feel inside you for a long time, which grows and grows in intensity until you feel that the time has come and you have to take the first step!

I started to guide me after the phrase “Life is nothing but a playground” which manages to capture in a realistic fairly healthy attitude that you can have when it comes to change. Every time you see that you are stuck at a certain level, you can go through the filter of this sentence and you can tell exactly what you do, why you lack motivation, why you do not progress.

The change begins at a moment of lucidity that you have when your attention is not saturated with all the things that fill your every moment in fear not to get bored. You realize everything you did before, about all the time that was lost. Then you panic and do not know what to do faster. Your action starts to come out of desperation.

Then comes the moment when you think you've found the solution: “you have to set a grand goal!” But instead of being inspired, you fall into a grater depression, because everything you do leads to failure. Whatever you do, you fail to reach the people that you might consider to be "successful". And you start to struggle, work hard, be disciplined, considering that this is the best thing you can do in your “down” situation where you are.

Inside you, you know that change cannot happen overnight, but your attitude and the way you act reveals that you want very fast results and betrays the fact that you cannot stand you. See how hard you worked on you, so you say that there's no point. Your attention begins to be distracted and thoughts go numb and fade, until you get tired and then return you to step one… the moment of lucidity.

We are taught to “dream big” but we cannot afford any tiny dreams, or do not even know what we want. We are encouraged to discover our passions and vocations, just to observe how easy we get lost in the labyrinth of life. And if we do not get the answers that we want, we think that “we are made” to feel like the last people on earth and " to be succesfull" its’s maybe a gift…

What’s the world that you’re building ?

In 2001, Shoshana Dobrow researcher from the School of Economics and Political Science in London follows the evolution of 450 students over 7 years. She was aiming to see how someone discovers his vocation. What she noticed is that sense of "calling" is unstable and is changing with the passage of time.

Moreover, there was no correlation between skills and the feeling that one has discovered his vocation. What makes a person believe that he discovered his vocation is the feeling that entire world now revolves around that one area, activities, social group to which he belongs. But with the passage of time, feeling like one discovered his vocation comes and goes, even among professionals within that domain. And if that was not enough, those who felt the strongest calling in the beginning were also those who have come to feel that the less. This raises the question: Does the "hearing the call" is just in your head? The feeling that "you were called" is not a reliable indicator when it comes to career choice. Specifically, that feeling develops, is discovered always from the inside out. You are doing things that you love, you become good on it and surround yourself with the right environment and people so you become passionate because of this. That feel is your calling, because that's your world now.

Others make you believe that you are imperfect and need to find something to be perfect … you don’t realize that you’ve been bulled. Think at the Universe which is evolving and expanding. Everything is built on things before. Your job is to give a part of your life ballast and build on solid ground. Are you stuck somewhere? You have a small hunch on what you'd like to do, and make a small step. As we receive feedback from the outside world, adjust your direction, actions and attitude that you have.

The change never begins with “I’m not quite ...” even if it seems so.

When “I’m not quite ...” becomes part of your identity, there is no room for maneuver. Only acceptance can give it. The feeling that “everything is perfect as it is” offers the bases. The second feeling is that “every moment I create my world”, and this makes you move in directions that are beneficial to you.

Start with a small step today and “keep walking”. Form your wealthy habits and you’ll be motivated every moment to go further, beyond your limits.

I’ll talk about good habit forming on my next posts.
