You may be shocked if you are not conscious about it but it's true that in my case Wealthy Affiliate offers profitable opportunity for newbies than AdSense.

All in all I have an earning in WA $23.50 with $18.50 remaining as of this time. This is only a one month duration - AdSense
From the very beginning my sites are earning $0.01 a day.
After two years of patience, persistence and hard work I was able to see that any of my sites can earn $1.29 a day although this is not constant because daily earnings vary every time.

Wealthy Affiliate now offers double edges in site comments because you can offer comment to other sites and earn credits and a cash.
If I'm right in my memory and consciousness this Site Comment Interest Match just started in December 2018, and that opportunity to earn both credits and cash can come alternately with 1 point credit and a $0.50.
The good thing about this Site Comments is that you are earning and you are boosting your site with the credits you will use to request for comment on your posts. And not only that you are also helping others boosts their site because you add to the traffic and visitors of theirs.
Earn from WA to Pay Monthly Premium Membership
With this trend a newbie like me can now seriously work and is able to earn from Wealthy Affiliate enough amount for the monthly premium bills.
For this reason I am devoting more time in boosting my sites, the sites of others and at the same time earning here in WA within a short span of time than AdSense.
My Paypal can now rest in peace, hahaha, and may start to save for me.

I wouldn't say Google Adsense is a waste of time. But, you have to have a lot of traffic to make $1.
On the other hand, you can make $1 much easier with SiteComments at Wealthy Affiliate.
I am trying to do some websites work first. Then, I will give it a try. In the past, when I wanted to offer comments, there were no content available.
I haven't tried again.
You will receive a notice on your email that a site is ready for comment. It will bring you up to 10 articles but so far 4 or 5 only are available then the next set will come the next hours or the next day.
