I need something like http://9214546.sitemaphosting4.com/ so that I can manually index my posts
Your SEO plugin in WordPress already provides you with a sitemap. If you are still using All in One SEO, then this will look like domain.com/sitemap.xml
You then add this to Google Search Console
I thought you had already done this though. Are you following the training here or are you following training outside of WA? Try not to get yourself confused by over complicating it.
I had to get rid of a 2nd sitemap. When I added the correct sitemap into the GSC, it gave me this:
https://onlydogtoys.com/sitemap.xml

why do you need that Anthony?
to manually index your posts you go to search console
log into your account
make sure that you select the correct domain
click on url inspection
and enter the post you want indexed at the top
then press enter
a popup will come up that google is looking for your article
and will return that it is not indexed with a 'index now ' in the lower right which you click on
or if it is a reindex you wil lbe asked if you want to re index
then it will say that it will get around to it
and it should be as simple as that...
where did you find about the sitemap
phil
When you put it into search console it needs to be attached to something like the sitehostingmap. What the google has in there for me to do the indexing with is my own website, When I put in something to index it says this...Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.
you put the whole url in - copy and paste from a preview for the post after you publish it .
what have you using to generate your sitemap
if it is all in one seo sitemap module it should be ok
with this module you can see what it looks like
have you added your sitemap to search console
when clicking on the sitemap menu you add sitemap.xml to the already filled in url and press enter and it should return ok
Have you checked that All in One SEO has Sitemaps turned on and are you entering sitemap.xml in to GSC?
I've been doing that. Yes, it is an all in one seo sitemap...I'll look for it thanks..actually this is what happens when I submitted the seo sitemap to be indexed.

click on that and it will come up with your url and ask for your sitemap
so add sitemap.xml to the end

you haven't set the no index option in your settings reading in your wordpress dashboard have you.
make sure it is unticked as shown
if it was ticked goto all in one seo - xml sitemaps and update sitemap
then resubmit and see what happens
Mine doesn't have that precisely, it has this;
Default to NOINDEX
Posts Pages Media / Attachments oEmbed Responses User Requests Blocks Ads
Default to NOFOLLOW
Posts Pages Media / Attachments oEmbed Responses User Requests Blocks Ads
Use noindex for Categories
Use noindex for Date Archives
Use noindex for Author Archives
Use noindex for Tag Archives
Use noindex for the Search page
Use noindex for the 404 page
that is in all in seo settings
i was after
settings - reading in the main wordpress dashboard
i went straight for the all in one and ouldn't find what i was looking for - but it is as shown in the image above - the main wordpress dashboard - settings - reading
In your WordPress back office click on All On One SEO, then I believe its called services and enable sitemaps from there. It will auto build, auto-update your sitemap.xml for you

Google search console seems to be functioning ok now, but it says https://onlydogtoys.com/ if not a proper form to do indexing in. Does anybody know where I'd get a proper ind
Hi Anthony. If you are referring to requesting indexing of your posts, you need to be adding links to individual posts. The link above is just to your home page. Just go to your live website, pull up a post, copy the full URL and then paste that into Search Console. Then repeat for the remainder of your posts.
Philip
I know how to do the indexing. There is a link, I believe it's sitemaphosting is trying to use my home page as an indexer, which of course, won't work. I need that prefix part that allows me to index my posts.
I have the sitemap and the Google Search Console, but the area where it indexes your posts manually, Google Search Console is trying to use as the indexer the name of my website, which is improper because it's in https:// format. I need the prefix that is used to attach the posts to, to manually have my posts indexed in.
