There is a bit of an information overload when you first sign up. Don't panic! Follow the 10 day plan, if you then decide to become a member, follow the 30 day plan. That'll break up things nicely for you and you'll wrap your head around a fair amount of information along the way.
If you need any help, feel free to ask. Ty is a great guy too, he'll be able to help you loads as well!

So far Ty, this is really awesome. I do need to progress to a place where assistance is not just necessary but wise to seek out. When it comes to how to present a site for affiliate purposes, what to say, link, arrange etc, I am totally new and will be looking for experienced counsel. I hope to have a "test build" site underway by this coming weekend.
There won't be any problem getting some advice and direction around here. There are many of us who are always happy to review a site and give our feedback.
Once you get to where you're adding content I would like to extend an invitation to join my Facebook group Writers Secret Society. It's really not very secret but basically when you publish something whether it's on your site or an article directory you can post the link in the group and many of the members will go social it and make comment.
This helps with ranking. Social signals and comments are a big factor and this group just gives us a bit of an edge. You just have to return the favor to others but there is no obligation to social anything if you don't like it.
Anyway don't worry about how exactly to present the site for now just get familiar with the functions of WordPress you and expect to make plenty of changes to the site before it's really ready.

I just thought I'd mention that it's OK to jump right into chat and ask questions, regardless of what else is going on in there. There is sometimes a "social" element chatting off topic, as some of us use it as the the office "water-cooler", a lifeline if like me you spend most of your day isolated with only a laptop for company. I guarantee no-one minds being interrupted to answer questions or help out. Best. Rich.
