My Empty Cup

Bruce Lee once said: “Empty your cup so that it may be filled; become devoid to gain totality.”

An Old Chinese Proverb said it well before Bruce: “The usefulness of a cup is in its emptiness.”

Now I should be the same as a cup without nothing in it. :-) Wealthy Affiliate University has a lot to teach and offers hands-on tutorials so it is best that I should empty my cup to leverage these teachings. I remember I once attended a training. We were all experienced and the topic was very basic to my point of view. I did not pay much attention to it because I already have done much of what the trainer was teaching. What I did not realize was that they would have to observe us while we do the tasks assigned to us. I was confident that I was doing it right. Then at the end of the day, I got low score. Funny and seem cheesy but its true. I felt embarrassed that day. Then out of ego, I asked my trainer. He said, " I know you are experienced guy and have been in the industry for quite some years now but a lot has changed in the techniques and methodologies. What you learned today is the brainchild of experience and 3 years of research. I saw you did the same old method that is why you got low score."

The lesson I learned that day is reflected by the my empty cup. I should have listened well and learned new things out of what I was doing in the past years. I could have improved and performed better.

I am learning new things today here at Wealthy Affiliate University. I come to school with an empty cup. :-)
