110% Performance = 100% Expected + 10% Recognized

100% is what's expected of you and the other 10% is what's recognized. I lived my life that way or at least I've tried to both in my professional and personal life. It works and I have to admit my 7-year stint in the Marine Corps highly contributes to this. Maybe it was how my mother and father worked so hard throughout their lives, that it left a lasting impression.

I remember my father telling me as a teenager "Son, when you work...you have to always do more than what's expected and try to figure out what needs to be done before the boss does". Ha, ha...in reflection, maybe this was called initiative but for me, this meant more $$$$$. Cha ching, cha ching. :) I always loved money...I was suppose to be a celebrity, rich and famous. I have practiced my signature a hundred times and have it down ready for use.

Now that I'm older and a little wiser, my father's advice still holds true and is the backbone of how I've continued to approach everything I do. Be it work, play, or doing things in general. Never settle for less, never cut corners, see the job through...up and to the best of your ability. Step back and honestly ask yourself "Did I give it my all? Was it my best?.

I truly believe that what sets you apart from others is hard work, passion, and your desire to put fourth an honest effort. Seek self-improvement. Read, seek answers, power is knowledge. I am hopeful that what I'm searching for is in the distant future but just a matter of time...I'm continuing to put fourth 110% and the other 10% will eventually lead to my success and true happiness.

I'm hopeful but damn, what's taking so long?

Thanks for reading my blog...I wish U2 the very best too! ;)

I like your take on what it takes to be successful, and you are right it does take long. For some it comes easy and for 98% of the population it actually requires work and effort and sweat. BUT. It will come...slowly but surely. That is what I keep telling myself. Don't give up! Being here is the next step to being successful! I know you can do it and we are in it together....because I am in the same boat! Let me know if you need anything!
