Stay Home Dad
I can't believe I was a stay home dad for the wrong purpose but it was great while it lasted and I would love to do it all over again under the right conditions.
For the first time in my life, I was laid off due to the economic disaster back in 2008 or so. This lasted for about 5 months, exhausted ALL my financial resources, interviews were disasters, and I spent sleepless nights wondering what the hell I was going to do to keep my family financially stable and found myself at the brink of going insane.
But one thing that left a lasting impression was that I was able to spend value time with my family. I would wake up every morning and do the routine in getting my boys ready for school. Cooked them breakfast, made their lunches, dropped them off to school, picked them up from school, and did little things around the house before the boss (my wife) arrived home from work. I never did this, it was new to me and I liked it...yeah, I can do this but reality struck me...YOU NEED TO FIND A JOB OR YOU'LL LOSE EVERYTHING.
This was cool but what a price to pay to be unemployed (I don't wish that upon anyone). I would love to stay home again but work from home. Man, could you imagine working from home? Making the same salary and having the luxury of not dealing with the outside world. Spending more time with the family, doing the little things that can have a profound impact to the family dynamics.
Ha, ha...I've just added another goal of mine...I want to work from home!

* After everything was done and I finally landed back on my feet, to this day...my wife tells me I was a terrific stay home dad...I think so too. ;)

Hi Rich, I admire your desire to do the right things for your children and your family. Your kids have benefited from you being at home with them in ways that may even surprise you. I admire your wife for being the main source of financial support that allowed you to stay home. Too many dads miss out on the early years with their kids. Kudps to both of you.
You have come to the right place to fulfill your desire to continue to be there for your kids and make money at the same time. Welcome to WA. You don't have to do this on your own. Lean on the WA community and the immense skills and knowledge that each of us brings to the table.
Good luck.
Hi Rich.. how lovely you had the chance not many Dads get to stay at home for a while with your kids! I am doing a free 12 week course to help me find my purpose and passion to help me get ready for working from home as well. I cant believe the difference it is making to my life. If you think it might be useful to you too, feel free to message me.

I can really relate to you right now 0for2! I was recently laid off and while I love being at home for my grandson it's hard when you have that feeling constantly with you that you NEED to find a job. The perfect scenario would definitely be working from home so that there wouldn't be the stress attached, best of both worlds! I'm so happy that you found a job. I'm hoping to find one while continuing to build my business, easier said than done. Good luck getting to your working from home goal!
Oh, marsgram...I feel for you. Sorry about you being laid off. I hope you find something...I know you will. Be consistent with your job search and something eventually will find you. Rats. Good luck with your business...I wish you the very best. You have WA and the community...we have your back! :)
