Internet Marketing Virgin Seeks Members With Experience

Greetings Earthlings! I signed up only yesterday and have been delighted to see what a friendly place this is. I suspected it might be quite competitive, but everyone I've encountered so far is so willing to share info, advice and support - it's really quite a community you've built here.
I've pondered joining for a while, but the $1 for 7 days' trial finally seduced me. I've explored other avenues with the potential to release me from the 9-5 daily grind working for someone else - actually, in my case it's more often the 7-6 grind - but none of them seemed right. Things like day trading just left me thinking: "but I won't actually be making anything (ok, besides money....maybe), and I won't be contributing in any way, I won't be putting anything useful out there, I won't be creating". This bothered me. I like making stuff. I like watching things grow. I enjoy helping others. And I love writing. Just between you and me, I think article marketing might be my thing, but we'll just have to wait and see...
I'm an internet geekette, so while the marketing side of things currently resembles a bottomless abyss beckoning a newbie swan dive, everything 'net related feels as cozy and familiar to me as lying sprawled in a beanbag watching a 30 Rock marathon whilst devouring impressive quantities of carbs. I have diverse and eclectic interests, degrees in fine arts, project management and internet studies, I do freelance web and photography assignments, sing lieder, work in higher education and stab people for recreation (fencing is a truly stress-releasing sport).
So! This is WA Day #1 for me. I hope to be here past my 7-day trial. Will see how things go. I'd be really interested to know something special that others have picked up during their time here. A motto, a tip, a phrase, an ideology, a way of thinking? What has shaped your experience here? Or what do you wish someone had told you when you first joined WA? Would appreciate your insights.

I've passed the trial date and I'm still here, largely because in the past week people like you guys have shown what a wonderfully supportive environment this is. I see from all the advice I've been getting that if you're prepared to get off your butt and do the work then things just might work. All quite exciting. Trying not to feel daunted by the volume of resources, though. So much to absorb!

Nice to have you in the WA family. My best piece of advice after reading the WA Action Plan is to enjoy Jay's FREE WAbinar classes and Jay's archives. Jay is on some next level marketing skills, can't quite find the right adjective for that talented man.
Hi, and welcome (yeah, I know - I'm a bit late, but who cares). Can't say that I'm a member who has some marketing experience, but I CAN say that I like your writing style. Does that work? :)
Anyway, as a fellow new member, I can see why everything would seem overwhelming. I actually find it the hardest to go and write some article (or really do something productive) when you're in a bad mood (caused, say, by something personal). But when you look at things again you find out that things are pretty simple. You just have to keep on doing whatever it is you need to do. That's the hard part (coz you're seeing no money out of it yet).
I'm sure you'll be successful if you don't give up and keep on pushing forward. And article marketing might really be the thing for you - the way you express yourself just keeps people reading. Well, assuming I can be an indication for anything. :)
