Life has sucker punched me!

Well folks, around the beginning of August, I had come up with a new plan and focus on getting traffic to my main website which involves heavy use of video creation and creating a brand new website as it is all part of a case study that involves showing people how I will create a profitable affiliate marketing website while following the training here and implementing what is taught.

I was excited as this was a brand new venture for me and a good way to get out of my comfort zone. I hit the floor running hard, but was making good progress when around the middle of August, I was unexpectedly informed by my part time job supervisor that my hours, which I've worked for the last 4 years because as I have a full time job during the day, were changing to early afternoon and that it was to begin immediately the next day. I was livid that I wasn't told that this was coming and have told this company before that I work during the day and told the supervisor that this was not possible. My part time job was cleaning a Post Office for an hour and a half each morning which was 5am to 6:30am.

Unfortunately, my supervisor said the Post Master wanted those new hours to clean and nothing else could be done, so I was gonna be let go once they found someone to work those hours. I really needed the income from that part time job to pay a particular bill or two that I just didn't make enough from my full time job to cover. I worked another week and a half there until they ended up finding someone else. So now I'm left scrambling to find another part time job as I'm also put in a dire financial situation because of this. Needless to say I didn't have time to work on my new project here at Wealthy Affiliate because of what was happening.

Well, it took me a couple of weeks, but I was able to find a new part time job that thankfully was a cleaning job which I was already used to and this time it was a more local company than what I dealt with before. Now I am getting paid less per hour than what I was making from the previous cleaning job at the Post Office, but I'm actually working more hours per week than what I was before. 5 and a half hours a week vs close to 20 hours per week so I actually end make up making a little more than my previous cleaning job. Another thing that's different though is that I'm working nights now so once I'm done working my full time job, I go home, change and drive to my part time job about 20 minutes away and my hours are 7pm to midnight, but I usually get done an hour or so before it hits midnight.

Now that I finally got a new part time job and started fixing my financial situation, I was all gung ho about getting back on track to my new venture and get things moving again. Life then sucker punches me, AGAIN. This time, it's with my computer. There was a brand new Windows 10 update that I went to install and let my computer do what it needs to for installing Windows updates and when I went to sleep, as it was late at night, I was expecting to wake to a screen that would say the update has been installed. That's NOT what happened at all. Instead, the screen was completely black. I restarted my computer several times. Nothing, Windows wouldn't load at all and it would stay black except for the mouse cursor. I looked up on my smartphone what to do in this situation and how you can load up a computer in repair mode and choose several options to try and fix the system. None of the options I chose worked at all and I began to panic as I was afraid I was gonna lose all my critical files on my hard drive. Thankfully I have a laptop and used that to find a way to retrieve all my files off the hard drive from a crashed computer.

I was able to retrieve all my critically important files and called an expert in town to fix my computer and told me that sadly, some Windows updates do end up doing these things, but that he could get Windows reinstalled for me at a very fair and good price. The good news is, I have Windows 11 installed on my computer now. The bad news is, my 2 screen monitor setup no longer works because it now appears something may be wrong with the video card so I'll have to call him again and get that fixed, but that's a more minor inconvenience as I can still work with one monitor and if I have to, I can use a two monitor setup with my laptop instead of my desktop.

The next thing that happened is my best friend went to the hospital a week and a half ago with SEVERE Pancreatitis. He was in so much pain and doctors had a hard time trying to find out the cause of it. Meanwhile, I told him I would be glad to help out his wife and kids at their house until he was able to get better. He is home now, but has to take things EXTREMELY slow for the time being.

I know this is a long post, but the point of this is, that when you have a plan and have laser focus on implementing it with your online business, things in life happen that will inevitably take your focus away as what has happened to me. I haven't forgotten about my new online business venture, but life has taken my focus away from it for a bit, but I'm bound and determined to get back with it so it is going to happen. Be prepared to be sucker punched by life once in awhile as you build out your online business.

We can all understand all the challenges you've faced recently - that's quite a list! Some days you're the dog, some days you're the hydrant; you've had a lot of hydrant days! Luckily life isn't always this way, and you can get past all of these things because you are determined to be successful with your site. You're a good friend and a hard worker, and it will indeed all pay off for you!

Life likes to do that from time to time, Brian. Things will eventually settle down and you can get back on track with what you want to do.

Take care always.

Mel

That my friend, I have been sucker punched many times ... but the last one that happened to me was one that I never expected ... and from very far ... Been working in my dad's company for the last 30yrs ... he's owned that company since 1948 ... decided to sell last year ... Nov. '22 was the start of neg. ... by July 1 there were new owners ... he'ed (my dad) started in the boating business in '68 ... I was working with him since 1990 ... was supposed to work with the new owners after the sale ... but things went sour (very sour) and I had to quite ... Because of different obstacles, life made it so that I wouldn't be able to retire ... not that retirement would be any better ... but maybe being able to do what you want when you want seems like a great prospect ... anyway found a new job for the time being ... crap goes on as it always does ... thank you for the post ... cheers ... Michel

The only thing we can count on is the unexpected. Hopefully better days are now ahead for you!

Susan

I know how you feel, my friend! Continue to persevere, my friend!
