Things that Go Bump in the Afternoon

Or I could have titled this, "Look what happens when you do somebody a favor."
Yesterday afternoon was a dark and stormy afternoon, Wasn't no sunshine on a cloudy day. I had already done my daily out of the house errands and was comfortably ensconced in the cocoon that has become my habitat for the last few months.
So naturally the phone rings. Caller ID showed that if was a friend. I shouldn't have picked up the phone. She only calls when she wants a favor. Usually a ride. Neither she nor her husband have a vehicle. He has wrecked of trashed every car they have ever had.
But it was her birthday and being the great person I am I have her a ride to get a check from her mom-in-law and then to the bank to cash it.
On my way home my inside windshield was so fogged up that I can barely see, That's why I poked the nose of my truck past the stop sign at an intersection, I realized what I had done and was going to back up but another car had already occupied that spot so I couldn't.
I could see another car headed my way on the cross street but he was a good distance away. Surely he would see me and stop. H saw me, The street was slick with rainwater and all the oil and stuff that comes out of other cars and made the street even slicker.
You guessed it. WHAMO. Even though the other driver hit his brakes i plenty of time to stop he slid right into the driver's side front of my truck. The guy at first said we need to call the cops and get a police report. The reasons why we didn't I have already written and just accidentally erased so you are just going to have you use your imagination.
Ditto on the damage to my truck and why it may cost more to fix than buy something else. Have been looking for a deal on Craigslist and not finding much. When I see a picture of a very nice looking truck and call the number and it starts off, "The text subscriber....." I know it;'s a scam.
Probably going to have to rent a car tomorrow and go look for a deal on a vehicle I hope doesn't have some hidden major problems that I can afford.
If I had just stayed home none of this would have happened. That's the last time I'm doing a favor for anybody.
