The Frozen Tundra of South Louisiana

Does anybody remember the old NFL films narrated by John Facenda? He was referred to as The Voice of God for the way he made football sound like a life and death struggle. He is credited with the phrase "The Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field" referring to the famous Ice Bowl, the 1967 NFL championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. The temperature was minus 13 that day in Green Bay, Wisconsin and with the wind coming off of the lake the wind chill made it seem much colder.

This morning I woke up at 6:30 and made coffee. Sometimes I like to sit outside to drink it. It felt a bit chilly inside so I checked the temperature. 47 degrees. Brrrrr.

That may not seem cold to those of you in northern climates but with the humidty here its downright cold. I would break out my skis if I had skis. Winter has arrived. At least until a bit later today when its suppose to climb to 72. I usually like to get out and do whatever I have to do around 9 AM but today I'll wait until about 11 when it's suppose to be 60 degrees.

I have to be home between 1 PM and 3 for the cable guy. If he shows up. Mondy morning my internet as well as my cable went out. Probably because the Cox cable guy who "fixed" it after Delta knocked it out did a crappy job. I recenty switched from YouTube TV to cable because YouTube kept adding channels I would never watch and raising their price.

After installing the cable box I couldn't figure out how to record programs. I record everything I watch except for sports so I can watch later and fast forward through the commercials. I asked the customer service rep about it and she said that DVR service required a different box and cost $5 more. They sent me one that I got Wednesday but the remote control wouldn't pair with the box like the instructions said.

I asked the cable guy who showed up Tuesday to fix if but he said he was too busy. Like it would nave taken him 5 minutes and what else did he have to do that was so important. After all, cable guys don't save lives or even rescue kittens trapped up trees

So anyway I got an appointment for a cable guy to come between 5 PM and 7 Wednesday. He never showed up. So I called and got another appointment for 5 to 7 Thursday. That one never showed up either. So again I called. I was told the next available time would be Saturday between 1 and 3

There is only one other internet and cable provider here. AT&T. I will find out if they have better prices. I had AT&T internet and cable a few years ago and I don't think I had to pay extra to record programs. One good thing about YouTube TV is that they don't give you a box. The recorded programs stay on their server and you can record an unlimited amount of programming.

When my internet was out a few weeks ago i would go to a coffee shop to do WA stuff on their wifi but I don't like staying there for hours and hours. So at home I used the data connection on my phone to comment on people''s posts and whatever else I did. Until I used up my monthly allotment of data. It will roll over tomorrow. hopefully here will be no more outages but i wouldn't count on it. knock on wood.

Louisiana has certainly been hit hard with hurricanes.

Glad you were able to figure out a temporary way to connect with WA.
Hopefully your home cable is working now so you can do more in WA.

Do keep safe!
