Why am I number 12 on Google and 11 on Yahoo?
For one of my posts, it looks like I am 12 on Google and 11 on Yahoo. To me this is great. My picture is even on Google. (Thought there was not more authorship)
Anyway, when I do a new Private Window Search I can't even find me. So what does that mean? The keyword is my title which is Snark SN2 Guitar Tuner.
Can someone tell me what the scoop is? It is very exciting to be 11 or 12 but if I am not actually in that position it is very disappointing..

Hey. You can search your rankings in Jaaxy.
Search --> Site Rank
Type in your keyword and your url. If you are on the first 20 pages, you will get results. I only search my keywords this way.

As a free member of Jaaxy, the site rank only searches the first 5 pages. As an upgraded member, it will search the first 20 pages

Google does personalized searches. So if you're logged in they will tend give you results based on your search habits or relationship with other google users. So in your case, since it's your website it will rank when you search when logged in.
When you do a private search that's the real results. So you're not ranking to everyone else yet. It takes time so don't get discouraged. The other thing to keep in mind is that you may be ranking for other keywords and phrases that you're not aware of. Thanks Eddy for the reminder. (I even spelled your name right this time) Great blog. Hope everyone reads it. Do you have any blogs on using the WA Keyword Tool? The ones I have seen don't answer some of my questions. Maybe I am just "daft" about this keyword thing. Blessings
Yes you did it spell it correctly! I don't have any keyword research articles. Kyle, Carson and many others have a done a great job covering that. Try private messaging Kyle or Carson directly about your question.
Eddy, you always have such good advice. I have been revamping both my sites nonstop for a few days, I admit I was keyword stuffing at the back end of my posts, so I went back and elaborated on my content, making sure it was keyword rich, and making sure my content had all the info I could provide, so I was doing searches, and I kept coming up on the first page! Hopefully now that I have done my diligent duty, my websites will truly rank. And Zora2, you are so interesting, you are going to rank for sure!!! Best wishes, it will happen!

Does "Private Window Search" possibly turn off (or otherwise disregard) your own search history? If you've previously done searches for that particular term, those searches may be affecting the results that you're seeing.
You are correct Bob. I think I read that some place. I think it was boomergp08. I never would have known about it otherwise.
I am not advanced enough to answer that for you Zora.2 but you will get the answer from someone I have no doubt.

All of the search engines will calculate their rankings slightly differently. Think of it like a recipe that each person in your family uses, but the dish comes out a bit different depending on who's cooking.
