...................keep your readers coming back for more.
Your About Me Page.
We have all seen those "terribly boring" and "no thought given" to some "about me "pages.
I have had my eyes opened and..yes, I was guilty of being a boring old fart when it came to my "about me " page.
Know Your Niche.
Depending on who you are talking to, it is important that your 'About Me' page needs to strike a balance between relatability and honesty.
Knowing who you are speaking to. Adapt your content and tone to their interests and expectations.
The more you know about your readers the closer you can come to understanding their motivations and desires.
Vietnam and ESL
For those that don't know, I teach ESL (English as a Second language) and have been in Vietnam running my own 2 schools and providing ESL teachers to other "language centers".
ESL teachers are a curious and profoundly disturbing mixture of personalities, LOL.
They are made up of people from young to old and after many discussions with other teachers, there is generally one or two points that have driven them from the herd.
It could be the simple desire of the young to travel from culture to culture and experience the delights of every country.
Or, for some, it could be the sharp bite of "separation", whether from partner or country. Hours and hours of "research" have been put into establishing this ( possibly) fact. lol.
Do the lot
By all means, put your accomplishments and qualifications upfront. These insights give the reader an instant picture of your abilities, regardless of whether it's a degree, certificate, or a major project.
And don't forget to do the little stuff as well....
Meta tags and headers are your unsung heroes. Although they may appear technical, mastering them could make the difference that makes your page stand out.
So a lot to stir around in that mix and find the chord that rings true for your readers.
I hope this post provides a dash of levity at the start of 2025
