You should be able to cut and paste back into excel if you do not have a backup copy of the original excel sheet?

Did you save the excel sheet first? You can create a document in excel, save, then download the document without any loss.
You did not import by copying and pasting. You simply transfered it.
Where do you want to update, the excel file or your site content?

Fortunately, I did keep a backup copy on excel, I just needed to edit on the website. But I got sorted, thank you for responding
