Shiny Object
So I have a problem, the last few days I have done little work on my Wealthy Affiliate blogs, I have a bit of "shiny object syndrome."
However my excuse is I need some more immediate cash as online business is my only source of income (left my job to give me an edge on becoming an entrepreneur, give me some discomfort in life and desperation)
So when I come across an opportunity to "retire in 100 days with 4k a month promoting x product" of course I will jump at it.
Now I know that it wont actually work, but the program does offer a CHANCE at making a bit of cash fairly quickly, with some work.
But here lies the problem, the program promising an early retirement, while the affiliate program is solid, the product itself is... well... pricey and "incomplete" without the upsells.
It is like buying a new video game, noticing there is much missing, and the developers release add ons to complete the game, charging you more than the game itself int he end to get the complete game.
It is a terrible system, one that even with some greedy intentions, I just cannot morally promote.
So a good friend of mine mentions their competitor, they offer a complete product, all the whistles and bells included for one price, they have two levels, the more expensive one is half the price of the cheapest version of their competitor.
Here is the kicker, thought they are cheaper and offer lower commisions, they have structured it in a way that it can actually be much more proffitable than the original competitor that had attracted me.
So for about four days now I have been working on building out that avenue, for some more immediate money, hasn't paid off yet, but I want to get back to working on my Wealthy Affiliate stuff.
As you can see, I have some shiny object syndrome. =)
Anyways, moral of the story, focus on one thing, make it work, then move on to the next, otherwise you end up like me, got too much going on and just tacking on more losses, time to get things straightened out.

Well, i think that just about anybody would have a little bit of the shiny object syndrome, enough for us to actually be interested to know more....
.... until we find out that it does not work. We would know based on experience and research. At least you are honest about how you feel though.
Absolutely true!
Everyone jumps from one thing to the next until they find something that works, the problem comes when you do it so quickly you don't actually wait around long enough to see if the results come in!
That is the line I need to get back behind, and realizing the problem is the hardest part, time to refocus and get back on track!
Plus, it isn't like I can only do one thing anyhow, I can absolutely use my websites here to promote it as well!
They can go hand in hand!
What you say is true; even I was jumping from program to program until I found WA.
And you are right too when you say that the hardest part is to refocus when you get off-track and coming back to what you are supposed to be doing to see yourself achieve.
And the even harder part, is to keep working although you see NO results. It is why most people quit, whatever their business ambitions. One thing to remember is that success could be right around the corner.
It's like giving up on digging for gold when you could dig for another few inches and find it.
Exactly, the two miners digging the tunnel is always in my head when I think (maybe this won't work)
I never give up on anything, however, just get a bit distracted by the new shiny object that comes around =)
Going to stay focused, go to bed early an wake up early and just work at these two projects.
Good going! I know, there are always distractions unfortunately, but this is life. We have to manage because these distractions are always going to be here.
It's okay to side-track once in a while and think about something else or try something else because you never know when you're going to really find something worth-while.
