I have a comment on my website that says it's from Google.

The email I received states that this is where it's from:

Website: Google (IP address: 172.94.73.163, 172.94.73.163)URL: https://www.google.com/ghsa4bbTrackback excerpt: Google

Also, this is the comment:

GooglePlease take a look at the web pages we stick to, which includes this one, because it represents our picks from the web.

I need to ask you (The WA Community) a few questions regarding this, please?

1.) Is this really from Google?

2.) If it is from Google, do I approve and keep the comment?

3.) One last question, If it is from Google, I don't know if it's an automated comment. So if y'all suggest that I approve and keep it, do I respond to the comment as well?

Thank Y'all in advance for all your help, input, and advice :)

Google doesn't comment. Mark as Spam and delete!

2

Thank you, Jeannine!

I did.

I received one similar to this yesterday and checked the URL, it went to a 404, so I deleted it as spam. Someone is getting tricky.

Thank You for responding Lily!

Yeah, they are getting slick.

The URL even has www.google.com in it.

Oops, I'm editing this, since I wasn't thinking that when I put that the URL included google and www and .com that it would add http:// and make it live.

So, just no one click on it, unless you want to go to Google.

I did a browser search on the URL also and it is spam. Deleteit.

Not sure what you have installed for plugins, but you may wish to install the WrodPress Plugin
WP Armour - HoneyPot Anti Spam

4

Thanks, George!

Yes, I'm going to delete it.

Also, thank you for the WP Armour recommendation.

Because I also received two other comments lately that I knew were spam, since they had links to like porno sites or something and my site doesn't have anything to do with that kind of stuff.

So, I don't know why I would be getting that kind of spam!

The spanners are getting more aggressive and deceiving the receiver..

3

Yeah, my first few comments were real comments.

After that, I read on here somewhere that most of our comments might end up being spam and I was thinking, oh cool, all my comments are actually real comments.

Then about the past week or so I've only gotten like 3 spam comments. (the Google one and 2 of the others)

2

That's no uncommon, But the plugin should help a lot to handle the spam ones..

Ok, thanks a lot George!

You are welcome.

if you are unsure Zach i would always check online
jsut put the ip address into google and .....
https://cleantalk.org/blacklists/172.94.73.163
was the first hit ...
it looks like it has been reported as spam on other sites
so i would just delete....
google is unlikely to add comments to websites as this could be seen as favouritism....

Thank You Too, Phil!

I see what you mean about if Google were to do it, how it would be a form of favoritism.

So, yes I think you're right, it would be highly unlikely that they would do it!

P.S. Also, thank you for being thorough, and doing the online search for me :)

I don't think it is from G. If it came into a site of mine, I would delete it. What do others think?

5

Thank you, Rosana!

I will delete it.
