I want to take some time to talk about a subject…

Most people would rather avoid. Depression and feeling down. Those are two different things. I sometimes feel down, low on energy but I get better either after sleeping, eating or even laughing: I recommend watching a comedy, there are lots of 1 hour stand up comedy show on youtube. I won’t put any link, I believe that every one has his/her preferences, but this works for me. You can also listen to some happy songs (tell me which one you prefer, I’m dying to know ).

Depression, on the other hand,….

Is something that last way longer and isn’t resolved by simply listening to music. I had a talk with one of my friends who, even though I love her, said something that made me silently furious. I was furious, but I didn’t say anything. She told us a sad story about her former colleague who put an end to his life and left a child and a wife behind. He was suffering from depression. She dropped a bomb and said, this guy was a coward.

It made me jumped,..

but it was one of those moment where I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t have enough knowledge on the subject, I still wish I could have said something clever but nothing came only silent anger. I said before that I used to co-organised social events. In one of those nights I met a guy who was really honest with me and told me that he run once every two days to fight depression.

It was the first time,..

I want to be honest with you, I wanted to run away, like a coward I guess ( I’m not stronger than the next guy) but I stayed and listen to him. He was a nice guy but I could see it. Every time I made a joke he laughed with me and right away he stopped and look down. It remind me what Peter Sage or even Bob Proctor said. To stop a problem from happening, you could start by stopping identifying yourself with it.

You are not a depressed person,…

You are a person who suffers from depression. It is something external that you can fight, It isn’t something that defines who you are. There is hope. He told me that sports helped him feel better. There are aslo deeply honest story of people who came out of this. It isn’t easy, I don’t want people to think that I believe It’s easy, so many people even famous artist are affected by it. I recommend the channel OWN on you YouTube . It is also good to know that you are not alone.

I’m dying to know what you think!

Hey YvesN,

I enjoyed your post on depression. A lot of depression can be external. It is called situational depression. I had it off and on growing up because my parents were very negative. I put myself through college with 3 jobs and it was hard. I'd get depressed from time to time. Recently, I have had gut-wrenching depression but I am going through menopause. So, my depression is more hormonal. I do have some situational depression taking care of my mother. It can be exhausting.

Instead of fighting depression, one wants to let it go. That means you experience it out. I look at it as something is coming up to heal. Once the energy of the feeling is gone, it is gone! Depression is real, so is anxiety. Both can make you physically ill. I exercise, pray, focus on happy things, work on Wealthy Affiliate cause it is an amazing goal and I have compassion for those who suffer depression. If one doesn't resist it, it will leave. If it is severe, that person needs medication. They probably lack serotonin in their brain. It is okay to take medication for severe depression and/or anxiety.

For me, I surrender it to God and focus on the things I love. And I am experience it out until it runs out. I just pull out the splinter.

Thanks for writing about this. It is real. But it can be helped.

All the best to you,

Angie

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I also heard keeping a journal of positive things that happened to you or your success can help you, it is like having a "bank" of positive memories. Something you can hold on to when stressed and anxiety comes.

I also when I feel down tend to exaggerate and by that I mean only focusing on the bad (negative).

Gratitude, praying does help. It opens your eyes to what you have. the luck, your abilities.

Thank you again
Yves
