Did my IP address change?
So, this morning when I was checking Google Analytics, I accidentally hit "Real Time" section and there was one visitor active on my website.
I was curious what page s/he was on. S/he was on the latest Jaaxy review I posted a few days ago. Hmm... s/he is reading about Jaaxy. Is this someone from WA?
Then I realized I had the very page of Jaaxy review left open on another window....
But this person cannot be me, right? I've already excluded my IP address from Google Analytics by watching this tutorial video by Jay.

(If you haven't done it yet, I recommend you to do so)
Out of curiosity, I went to another page just to see what Google Analytics would show. You know what? This mysterious visitor followed me... Clicked another page and s/he still followed me....
This is me!!!!!
Why is this happening??? Did I mess up something at GA? I went to the Admin and checked my filter, and there it is, my IP address is safely stored as "exclude." I thought about asking someone at Live Chat. Before doing that, I decided to just double check my IP address. It shouldn't have changed. I haven't moved or switched the provider or anything.
Did my IP address change? ..... Yes, it did.
It was completely different from a month ago. I was totally puzzled. I google searched and found this.
Did you guys know this?? Come to think of it, yes, my husband once unplugged the router a week ago since the WiFi connection was not good that day. So, it means since that day my activity has been included in the GA data... Oh my...
All this time, I believed that IP address never changes unless you relocate or change the provider. I guess I was wrong.
I urge you to check if the IP address you registered to exclude from GA is still the same.
Everyday, everything is a learning opportunity, huh?
Cheers,
Yuko :)

To keep your IP from changing you have to get a static IP. Some ISP's (Internet Service Provider) will sell you a static IP and others will not. It depends on your ISP.
Hi Gary, I never knew these things. You are so knowledgeable! Thank you for sharing this information. From here I shall make it habit to occasionally check my IP address. Thanks!

This is great advice and something to think about. Since I am surfing "free internet" at my local library I really am at their mercy for the IP address, but I will keep this I mind when the day comes I get internet at home again. Thanks!
Hi Jess, You are right! When you use those public WiFi the IP address changes every time. Since I still have such little visitors to my website, my own activities affect the data a lot. Once I start getting more traffic, it may become not an issue. Thanks for dropping by Jess :)
